We're hiring a freelance video editor — Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and YouTube long-form. Fair warning: the job is mostly deciding what not to do.

We need an editor for ongoing work across our client roster.
Three formats, one pipeline.
YouTube long-form — podcast episodes, interviews, and talking-head videos. Structuring an hour of raw footage into something watchable, cutting the dead air, knowing which tangent earns its place and which one loses the room.
YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels — some shot original, most of it pulled from the long-form. Finding the ninety seconds inside the hour that stands on its own is a specific skill, and it's the one we value most.
And they're not the same edit. Reels live or die on the first two seconds and on whether someone sends it to a friend. Shorts behave more like YouTube — the title and thumbnail do real work, and viewers give you slightly longer. If you treat them as one export with two aspect ratios, this isn't the role.

Here's the part most editors won't like.
Our house style is restraint.
No jump cuts every three seconds.




No trending audio.
No animated word-by-word captions.
No zoom punch-in on every emphasis.
Most of what we ship is one unbroken take of someone talking, and the goal is that it doesn't look edited at all.
If your reel is wall-to-wall motion graphics and hard cuts on the beat, we'll both be frustrated.
Here's the part we think is genuinely interesting.
Strip all that out and every remaining decision carries real weight. Where the take actually starts — almost never where they started talking. Which four seconds out of ninety is the hook. When one line of text appears and how long it holds. Whether a stumble gets cut or kept, and knowing that keeping it is usually right.
That's a harder edit than a rapid one. Pace is where most editors hide. This work has nowhere to hide.
