The Cost Accountant is responsible for managing and analyzing product and manufacturing costs to support strategic business decisions. The role involves maintaining an effective cost accounting system, monitoring inventory valuation, performing profitability analysis, preparing cost reports, and ensuring accurate month-end costing activities. The incumbent will work closely with Production, Supply Chain, Sales, and Finance teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve overall operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Accounting & Product Costing- Develop, implement, and maintain the company's cost accounting system.
- Prepare and maintain standard costing for all products.
- Perform monthly standard cost roll-up and cost updates in SAP.
- Analyze manufacturing costs and compare standard costs with actual production costs.
- Conduct product costing and product profitability analysis.
- Analyze production order variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare monthly cost variance reports with detailed analysis.
Financial Analysis- Analyze sales price movements and product mix profitability.
- Review material, labor, and overhead cost variances.
- Prepare profitability reports for management decision-making.
- Provide cost analysis to support pricing strategies and business planning.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend process improvements.
Inventory Management- Monitor inventory valuation and costing.
- Conduct physical inventory verification and support cycle count activities.
- Reconcile inventory differences and investigate variances.
- Ensure accurate inventory records and costing in ERP systems.
Month-End Activities- Perform month-end costing activities in SAP.
- Ensure accurate product costing and inventory valuation.
- Maintain costing master data and activity rates.
