Assistant Purchase Manager – Purchase & Procurement

ROLE SUMMARY

BuildAhome is looking for a smart, commercially strong and result-oriented Assistant Purchase Manager with hands-on experience in end-to-end procurement of building and construction materials. The candidate must have strong knowledge of construction materials, market pricing, vendors, manufacturers, negotiation and project material planning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Manage end-to-end procurement of Cement, Steel/TMT, Bricks/Blocks, Sand, Aggregates, Tiles, Doors, Paints, Plumbing, Electrical, Sanitaryware, Waterproofing and finishing materials.
- Understand the purpose, application, specifications and quality requirements of materials and ensure the right quality, quantity, source, price and timely supply.
- Identify and develop reliable vendors, dealers, distributors and direct manufacturers/industries for regular and bulk procurement.
- Maintain strong knowledge of current market prices, material availability, suppliers and sourcing locations.
- Obtain quotations, prepare price comparisons, negotiate rates/commercial terms, obtain approvals and manage Purchase Orders (POs).
- Drive cost reduction through negotiation, bulk purchasing, direct sourcing, alternate vendors and better commercial terms.
- Coordinate with project/site teams for material planning and ensure on-time supply to avoid project delays, shortages and escalations.
- Track orders and delivery commitments and arrange backup sources/plans for critical or delayed materials.
- Manage vendor registration, evaluation, performance and supplier relationships.
- Handle high-value/high-volume transactions with proper verification of quantities, rates, specifications, GST,



invoices, delivery documents and POs.
- Coordinate with Accounts/Finance for payment follow-ups, invoice issues and commercial settlements.
- Follow the complete purchase/procurement lifecycle with proper documentation.

REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

- 7–15 years of relevant Purchase/Procurement experience in Construction/Turnkey/Real Estate projects.
- Strong hands-on experience in building/construction materials is mandatory.
- Excellent knowledge of material applications, specifications, quality, market rates and sourcing methods.
- Strong network of construction material vendors and manufacturers, including direct industries for bulk procurement.
- Solid price negotiation, commercial analysis, cost reduction and vendor management skills.
- Good knowledge of GST calculations, PO management, purchase documentation and procurement processes.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, large-value transactions and time-critical requirements.
- Strong analytical thinking, verification, follow-up, time management and problem-solving skills.
- Smart, proactive, commercially intelligent and capable of making quick, practical procurement decisions.

PREFERRED BACKGROUND Candidates from Turnkey Construction, Residential Construction, Real Estate, Builders, Contractors or similar construction organizations with strong building-material procurement experience will be preferred.

Not Suitable: Candidates whose primary procurement experience is in manufacturing, automobile, electronics, FMCG, IT or other non-construction industries.
