This is an opportunity to work with an Ashoka Fellow
Ashoka Fellows are leading social entrepreneurs that have been taken through a rigorous selection process, testing the quality of their ideas and character, to become part of the Ashoka Fellowship and Network.
Ashoka
Fellows take on the challenges of building innovative system change ideas to make and spread social impact in a world wrought with challenges. They refuse to let the ‘impossible’ stand in their way to creating a better world.
This is an unpaid, volunteer opportunity
About The Affiliated Organization
RightWalk Foundation was founded on a simple but powerful belief: that policy is one of the most powerful levers for social change, but only if it's designed well and implemented even better. Too often, well-intentioned policies fail not because they were wrong on paper, but because the systems and people needed to deliver them weren't set up to succeed. RWF was created to close that gap — to work end-to-end on the policies that shape millions of lives, from advocacy through to on-ground delivery.
RightWalk works at the intersection of government systems and the communities they're meant to serve — ultimately helping the millions of people affected by poverty and inequality across India, particularly in the states where we operate (Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, and Uttar Pradesh). We work with system leadership, lawmakers, and communities to make sure policy actually reaches the people it's designed for. We work across the full policy lifecycle — Policy Advocacy, System Design, Capacity Building, and Efficient Delivery.
That means we don't just push for better policies; we help design the systems that implement them, build the capacity of the institutions and people responsible for delivery, and stay engaged through execution to make sure outcomes actually materialize on the ground.
A good policy that never reaches the people it's meant for is just paper.
Our work is important because it sits in the hardest, most overlooked part of social change — the gap between intention and impact. By strengthening state capacity and closing implementation gaps, we help ensure that India's policies don't just exist but genuinely work for the people they're meant to protect and empower.
Our motto captures it best: "Championing Policies, Empowering People.

RightWalk Foundation is looking for a volunteer to stand alongside our People & Culture team — the quiet engine behind everything we do — supporting recruitment, onboarding, HR systems, and employee engagement for the changemakers who power our mission. Behind every policy RightWalk helps shape, every community program we deliver, and every life touched by better governance, there's a team of people who chose purpose over comfort.
Our goal is simple: make sure the people fighting poverty and inequality on the ground are themselves supported, valued, and set up to do their best work. This volunteer role exists to help us build that foundation — so our people can focus on their calling, not on administrative gaps. What tasks will you be doing?
- Help bring the right people into our mission — supporting recruitment coordination, interview scheduling, and candidate communication
- Give every new joiner a warm, well-organized welcome into the RightWalk family through onboarding support
- Keep our HR systems accurate and dependable — attendance, leave records, employee data — so nothing falls through the cracks
- Help preserve and organize employee records with the confidentiality and care they deserve
- Bring moments of joy and connection to our team through engagement activities, celebrations, and recognition
- Build simple trackers and dashboards that help us see and celebrate our people's journey
- Be a first, friendly point of contact for employees navigating everyday HR questions
RightWalk's entire People & Culture function currently rests on one person's shoulders. Every hour a volunteer gives back is an hour that goes directly into strengthening the people behind our mission — the field staff building state capacity, the researchers shaping policy, the changemakers working in five states across India. Their work won't be visible in a press release or a policy win, but it will be felt every day by the people who make those wins possible. In a very real sense, they won't just be supporting HR — they'll be investing in the people who are investing in India's future.
