About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced VP – Operations to lead and scale Elance’s overall operational function across its network of branches and business verticals.The role will be responsible for ensuring operational excellence, business performance, process standardization, customer experience, people productivity and scalable execution across the organization.The ideal candidate should be a solid execution-oriented leader with experience managing large teams, multi-location operations and high-growth environments, preferably in Education, EdTech, Retail, BFSI, Hospitality or other customer-facing service businesses.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the overall operations strategy and execution across Elance's branches and business units.
- Drive operational performance against key business, revenue, productivity and customer experience metrics.
- Develop and implement standardized processes, SOPs and operating mechanisms across locations.
- Oversee multi-location operations and ensure consistency in service delivery and operational standards.
- Build a strong performance-management culture with clear KPIs, dashboards and review mechanisms.
- Identify operational gaps and implement corrective actions to improve productivity, efficiency and profitability.
- Work closely with Admissions, Academics, Marketing, HR, Finance and Expansion teams to ensure seamless business execution.
- Monitor branch-level performance and drive initiatives to improve revenue, conversion, utilization and operational efficiency.




- Lead and mentor senior operations leaders and build a high-performing leadership team.
- Ensure effective manpower planning, resource allocation and workforce productivity.
- Establish strong mechanisms for MIS, reporting, reviews and data-driven decision-making.
- Drive continuous improvement and automation of operational processes wherever applicable.
- Ensure high standards of student/customer experience and service delivery across locations.
- Identify operational risks and establish appropriate controls and governance mechanisms.
- Support the organization's expansion by creating scalable operational frameworks for new branches and markets.
- Work with senior leadership to translate organizational strategy into executable operational plans.
- Candidate Profile
- 15+ years of experience in Operations, Business Operations, P&L; Management or Multi-location Management.
- Proven experience managing large teams and geographically distributed operations.
- Strong experience in scaling operations in a high-growth organization.
- Experience managing P&L;, revenue, productivity and operational KPIs.
- Strong understanding of process design, governance and performance management.
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder-management and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong analytical and data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Experience in Education/EdTech, Retail, BFSI, Hospitality, Healthcare or other service industries will be preferred.
- MBA / Master's degree in Business, Operations, Management or a related discipline preferred.
