Responsible for developing, evaluating, and managing vendors to ensure timely supply of quality materials/components at competitive prices while maintaining company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and develop new vendors based on company requirements.
- Evaluate vendors based on quality, cost, delivery, capacity, and reliability.
- Coordinate with vendors for quotations, price negotiations, and commercial terms.
- Follow up with vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Monitor vendor performance and take corrective actions when required.
- Coordinate with Purchase, Quality, Production, and Engineering teams for vendor-related issues.
- Conduct vendor visits/audits and support vendor improvement activities.
- Develop alternate sources to avoid supply interruptions.
- Maintain vendor records, quotations, evaluation reports, and performance data.
- Support cost-reduction and localization initiatives.
- Resolve quality and delivery issues with vendors.
- Ensure vendors comply with company specifications and quality requirements.
Required Skills:
- Good knowledge of vendor development, procurement, and supply chain processes.
- Knowledge of machining, fabrication, sheet metal, casting/forging or engineering components will be an advantage.
- Good negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand technical specifications.
- Knowledge of ERP/SAP and MS Excel.
- Strong follow-up and problem-solving skills.
Qualification: Diploma / BE / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical or relevant engineering discipline.
Experience:
Typically 2–10 years of experience in Vendor Development .
