ABOUT STEEL MONT GROUP

Steel Mont Group is a diversified production and trading comopany engaged in the international sourcing and distribution of metals and minerals. We are expanding our non-ferrous and poly-metal trading desk and are looking for an experienced trader to drive growth in this segment.

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for a seasoned Trader – Non-Ferrous & Poly Metal to manage and grow the company's import and export trading business across manganese ore, copper, gold, silver, and other non-ferrous and poly-metal commodities, in both domestic and international markets. The role involves end-to-end deal execution, from sourcing and price negotiation to logistics coordination and relationship management with counterparties across India and overseas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Manage import and export trading operations for non-ferrous and poly-metal commodities, including manganese ore, copper, gold, silver, and allied products, across both domestic and international markets.
- Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with domestic and international suppliers, buyers, mines, refineries, and trading counterparties.
- Source competitive supply and identify profitable trading opportunities across domestic and global markets.
- Develop and grow the domestic client and supplier base alongside international trading relationships.
- Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, contracts, and payment terms in line with market conditions and company risk parameters.




- Track global commodity price movements, LME/market benchmarks, currency fluctuations, and freight trends to identify trading opportunities and manage risk.
- Coordinate with logistics, shipping, customs, and documentation teams to ensure smooth execution of import/export consignments.
- Liaise with banks and financial institutions for LC, trade finance, and payment settlement processes.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs laws, and company policies.
- Prepare and present market intelligence, trade reports, and business development plans to management.
- Represent the company at international trade fairs, exhibitions, and client meetings as required.
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of deals to achieve volume and margin targets.
- Manage end-to-end shipping and documentation for both containerized and bulk vessel cargo, including bills of lading, certificates of origin, packing lists, and letters of credit documentation.
- Coordinate with shipping lines, freight forwarders, CHA agents, and port authorities for timely container and bulk vessel movements.
- Ensure adherence to all import/export compliance requirements, including DGFT, customs, and other regulatory guidelines applicable to metal and mineral trade.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

- 8+ years of relevant experience in trading (import/export)



of non-ferrous metals and poly metals such as manganese ore, copper, gold, and silver, across domestic and international markets.
- Proven track record of deal origination, negotiation, and execution in both domestic and international commodity markets.
- Solid understanding of global trade documentation, INCOTERMS, LC/trade finance instruments, and customs/regulatory processes.
- Established network of suppliers, buyers, and industry contacts across relevant geographies.
- International exposure or prior experience working with/for overseas trading offices strongly preferred.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-management skills.
- Ability to analyze market trends, pricing data, and manage commercial risk.
- Working knowledge of shipping and logistics for both containerized and bulk vessel cargo is an added advantage.
- Sound knowledge of trade compliance, DGFT/customs regulations, and end-to-end export-import documentation.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, International Trade, Metallurgy, or a related field; MBA preferred.
