Job Title: Thermal Engineer – Automotive HVAC & Thermal Management
Job Number: [Insert Job Number]
Career Level: E7
Strategic Business Unit (SBU): PTE
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Thermal Engineer (E7 Level) to join our powertrain and thermal engineering team. In this role, you will lead the system development, 1D numerical simulation, and layout of thermal management and HVAC systems across conventional, hybrid, battery electric (BEV), and fuel cell (FCEV) vehicle platforms. You will play a critical role in bridging computational fluid/thermal models with real-world testing to deliver energy-effective cooling packages and control strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- System Concept & Layout: Design and optimize thermal management systems, coolant loops, AC circuits, and heat exchanger vehicle cooling packages for diverse powertrain architectures.
- 1D/0D Simulation: Perform detailed 1D/0D thermal and fluid simulations (using tools like GT-Suite, AMESim, or KULI) at both component and full-vehicle levels.
- Thermal Controls Strategy: Define core functional logic and control algorithms to maximize energy efficiency in mechatronic thermal systems.
- Test Correlation & Data Processing: Evaluate empirical measurement data, correlate 1D simulation models with physical test results, and perform detailed post-processing to validate performance.
- Engineering Recommendations:
Synthesize complex simulation outputs into concrete design improvements, technical documentation, and customer presentations.
- Project Execution: Manage deliverables across multiple concurrent projects while collaborating closely with cross-functional engineering teams and external clients.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Master’s degree (M.Tech, M.Sc, M.Eng) or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics.
- Experience: 5+ years of specialized experience in thermal management, HVAC systems, or fluid system simulation (automotive industry experience strongly preferred).
- Technical Knowledge: Strong foundation in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, hydraulics, turbo-machinery, and basic mechatronic control algorithms.
- CAE & Simulation Tools: High proficiency in 1D system simulation software (e.g., GT-Suite, AMESim, Flowmaster, KULI, Cruise M) and system modeling via MATLAB/Simulink.
- Programming & Data Analysis: Hands-on experience with scripting languages (Python, MATLAB) for data processing and automated workflow execution.
- Professional Attributes: Highly self-organized, capable of working autonomously, and adept at managing multi-project workflows within a team environment.
Pay: ₹900,000.00 - ₹1,100,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
