We are looking for a specialist who can protect and grow our organic search presence in an era defined by AI Overviews, generative search, and LLM-powered discovery engines.

Role Overview

This is a hands-on individual contributor role sitting at the intersection of traditional SEO, emerging Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO), and Google's AI Overview ecosystem. You will own AIM's search visibility end-to-end — from technical audits and structured data implementation to content architecture and LLM citation strategy. You will work directly with the editorial, engineering, and sales teams to ensure AIM's content is discovered, cited, and trusted by both search engines and the AI systems that are fast replacing them.

Key Responsibilities

Technical SEO

▸ Own the full technical health of assigned site — crawlability, indexation, Core Web Vitals, site architecture, and internal linking

▸ Manage and improve XML sitemaps, robots.txt, canonical tags, hreflang, and pagination logic

▸ Audit and fix SPA/client-rendering issues; coordinate with engineering on SSR, ISR, or pre-rendering implementation (current stack: React)

▸ Monitor indexation coverage via Google Search Console and third-party crawlers to resolve coverage gaps weekly.

▸ Implement and maintain structured data: Article, BreadcrumbList, FAQPage, Person (author), Organization, news schema and Event schemas

▸ Conduct quarterly technical audits and track remediation against a prioritised issue backlog.

Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO)

▸ Optimise content for citation by large language models





▸ Apply GEO writing techniques

▸ Audit robots.txt and ensure Bot, and other AI crawlers have appropriate access

▸ Experiment with content formats shown to increase LLM citation likelihood etc.

Analytics & Reporting

▸ Own SEO performance reporting: organic sessions, impressions, average position, CTR, indexation coverage, and AI citation share

▸ Build and maintain dashboards drawing from GSC and GA4.

▸ Attribute traffic changes to specific causes (algorithm updates, content changes, technical issues) with evidence, not guesswork

Required Skills & Experience

Non-negotiable

▸ 2–5 years of hands-on SEO experience, with at least one year focused on technical SEO at a content-heavy media sites.

▸ Demonstrable experience with Google Search Console, GA4, Screaming Frog etc

▸ Proven track record of diagnosing and recovering from Google algorithm updates (HCU, core updates, spam updates)

▸ Active, informed awareness of GEO and AI search — you follow the research, experiment with LLMs, and can explain what makes content LLM-citable

▸ Strong analytical thinking: able to read GSC data, identify the cause of a traffic change, and propose a fix — not just describe the symptom

▸ Clear written communication: you write SEO briefs and technical recommendations.

Robust advantage

▸ Experience with React-based SPAs and working knowledge of how JS rendering affects SEO (CSR vs SSR vs ISR vs SSG)

▸ Familiarity with Perplexity, ChatGPT Browsing, Gemini, and AI Overview behaviour through direct testing, not just reading about it

▸ Experience at a media publisher, news site, or high-volume editorial platform

▸ Knowledge of E-E-A-T signals — author schema, byline best practices, author entity building, citation sourcing

▸ Basic Python or SQL for log file analysis, GSC data pulls, or content auditing at scale
