Shift Timing: Rotational Shifts / 24x7 Operations Support
Primary Focus: OS Patching, Cloud Operations, Monitoring, Automation, and Incident Management.
Job Summary: We are looking for a skilled OS Patching Engineer (P3) responsible for managing and maintaining operating system patching activities across enterprise environments. The role involves patch deployment, vulnerability remediation, system monitoring, troubleshooting, automation, incident management, and operational support for Linux and Windows servers hosted on-premises and in cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS.
The ideal candidate should possess strong experience in Linux/Red Hat administration, working knowledge of Windows Server environments, and exposure to automation tools and scripting for patch management operations.
Key Responsibilities:
OS Patching & Vulnerability Management:
- Plan, schedule, and execute monthly and emergency OS patching activities for Linux and Windows servers.
- Perform vulnerability remediation activities based on security assessments and compliance requirements.
- Validate patch deployments and ensure system stability post-patching.
- Coordinate patching windows with application and infrastructure teams.
- Monitor patch compliance and generate patching reports.
Linux & Windows Administration:
- Administer and support Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
- Perform system health checks, configuration validation, and performance monitoring.
- Handle basic to intermediate Windows Server administration tasks.
- Troubleshoot OS-level issues and restore services with minimal downtime.
Cloud Operations (Azure & AWS):
- Support patching and maintenance activities for cloud-hosted virtual machines.
- Understand cloud-native monitoring and system management capabilities.
- Work with Azure and AWS infrastructure teams during maintenance and incident activities.
- Ensure compliance with cloud security and operational standards.
Monitoring & Incident Management:
- Monitor server infrastructure and respond to alerts proactively.
- Investigate system outages, performance degradation, and operational incidents.
- Execute restoration activities and perform root cause analysis.
- Handle incident escalation and coordinate with cross-functional teams for resolution.
- Participate in rotational shifts and on-call support activities.
Automation & Tooling:
- Develop and maintain Shell scripts for operational automation.
- Support automation initiatives using Ansible and other configuration management tools.
- Utilize patch management and operational tools such as MFO and enterprise patching solutions.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation.
Required Technical Skills:
Cloud Platforms:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Azure
- Knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Operating Systems:
- Solid experience in Linux Administration (RHEL preferred)
