STAFF NURSE – CARDIAC & CRITICAL CARE

1. JOB PURPOSE

The Staff Nurse is responsible for providing safe, compassionate and comprehensive nursing care to patients admitted to Rane Hospital, with particular responsibility for cardiac, ICU, post-operative and ward patients. The nurse is expected to work independently, demonstrate responsibility, accountability and clinical competence, and ensure that nursing care and documentation comply with NABH standards, hospital policies and patient-safety requirements.

1. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESA. Patient Care

- Provide comprehensive nursing care to cardiac, ICU, pre-operative, post-operative and general ward patients.
- Receive and assess patients on admission and monitor their condition throughout the shift.
- Monitor and record vital signs, SpO₂, ECG, cardiac rhythm, neurological status, intake/output and other relevant parameters.
- Recognize deterioration in a patient's condition and immediately inform the RMO / treating consultant.
- Carry out nursing orders and treatment plans accurately and promptly.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living while maintaining dignity and privacy.
- Ensure proper positioning, pressure-sore prevention and fall-prevention measures.

B. Cardiac & Critical Care Nursing
- Monitor and identify abnormal ECG and cardiac rhythms and promptly report significant changes.
- Monitor patients receiving inotropes, anticoagulants and other critical cardiac medications as prescribed.
- Administer medications safely and accurately according to the prescribed treatment plan.
- Assist in the management of MI, arrhythmias, cardiac arrest and other cardiac emergencies.
- Maintain readiness of emergency equipment and assist during resuscitation.
- Perform BLS/ACLS as applicable and participate effectively in emergency response.
- Provide pre- and post-procedure nursing care for CAG, angioplasty, pacemaker implantation and cardiac surgeries.
- Assist doctors during procedures as required.

C. Medication & Treatment
- Administer oral, IV, IM,



SC and other medications as prescribed.
- Exercise particular caution while administering high-alert medications, anticoagulants, insulin, inotropes and cardiac medications.
- Verify medication, dose, route, patient and timing before administration.
- Monitor patients for adverse drug reactions and immediately report significant reactions.
- Maintain accurate medication administration records.

D. Infection Control & Patient Safety
- Strictly follow hospital infection prevention and control protocols.
- Follow hand hygiene, PPE, aseptic techniques and isolation precautions as applicable.
- Ensure proper care of IV lines, urinary catheters, drains and other invasive devices.
- Follow protocols for prevention of HAIs, pressure injuries, falls and medication errors.
- Maintain a secure and clean patient environment.
- Report incidents, near misses and patient-safety concerns immediately.

E. Nursing Documentation & NABH Compliance
- Maintain complete, accurate and timely nursing documentation as per NABH standards.
- Record vital signs, nursing assessments, medication administration, intake/output, procedures, patient observations and changes in condition.
- Ensure nursing notes are dated, timed and properly authenticated.
- Complete nursing checklists, assessment forms, care plans and other required records.
- Ensure patient files are complete and audit-ready.
- Follow all applicable hospital policies, SOPs and NABH requirements.

F. Patient & Relative Communication
- Educate patients and relatives regarding the patient's condition, medications, diet, activity and lifestyle modifications as directed by the treating team.
- Provide appropriate emotional support to patients and their families.
- Communicate respectfully and professionally with patients and relatives.
- Protect patient privacy, confidentiality, dignity and rights.




- Ensure that informed consent requirements are followed and escalate any concerns regarding consent or patient rights.

G. Coordination & Teamwork
- Coordinate effectively with cardiologists, consultants, RMOs, physiotherapists, dietitians, technicians and other departments.
- Participate in consultant rounds and implement documented medical and nursing instructions.
- Ensure proper handover between shifts using appropriate clinical information.
- Communicate significant clinical changes promptly to the RMO / treating consultant.
- Assist junior nursing staff and nursing assistants when required.

H. Emergency Preparedness
- Maintain readiness for cardiac and medical emergencies.
- Know the location and operation of emergency equipment, crash cart, defibrillator, oxygen and emergency medications.
- Participate in mock drills, emergency training and hospital safety programs.
- Ensure emergency equipment and supplies are immediately available and report shortages or deficiencies.

1. PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS

The Staff Nurse is expected to demonstrate:
- Responsibility for assigned patients.
- Accountability for nursing care, medication administration and documentation.
- Clinical vigilance and early recognition of patient deterioration.
- Initiative rather than waiting for instructions for routine nursing responsibilities.
- Professional conduct, punctuality, discipline and appropriate grooming.
- Respectful communication with patients, relatives and colleagues.
- Strict adherence to NABH, infection-control and patient-safety standards.

1. QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

Essential:

- B.Sc. Nursing from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration with the applicable State Nursing Council.
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year of ICU experience.
- Experience in cardiac nursing / CCU / ICU / cardiac hospital preferred.
- Current BLS certification; ACLS certification preferred.

Preferred:

- Experience in Cath Lab / cardiac OT / post-operative cardiac care.
- Familiarity with ECG interpretation, cardiac monitoring, ventilators and critical-care equipment.

Job Type: Full time Pay: From ₹18,000.00 per month
