Cashier - Roles & Responsibilities

Hotel / Club / Restaurant / Bar

1. Cash & Billing Management
- Handle all cash, card, UPI, and other payment transactions accurately.
- Generate guest bills and ensure correct food, beverage, and service charges.
- Verify discounts, complimentary items, offers, and taxes before closing bills.
- Maintain sufficient change and secure cash at the counter.
- Issue receipts to guests whenever required.

2. POS System Management
- Operate the restaurant/bar POS system efficiently.
- Enter food and beverage orders accurately.
- Check KOT/BOT and ensure all orders are properly posted.
- Correct billing errors only with proper authorization.
- Ensure cancelled items, voids, and complimentary bills are properly documented.

3. Daily Cash & Settlement
- Maintain the daily cash register.
- Reconcile cash, card, UPI, online payments, and POS sales at the end of each shift.
- Prepare daily cashier closing reports.
- Report any shortage, excess, or discrepancy immediately to the Manager/Accounts team.




- Handover cash and supporting documents as per company procedure.

4. Guest Service
- Greet guests professionally while handling payments.
- Explain bills clearly and resolve basic billing queries.
- Handle guest complaints related to billing politely.
- Maintain confidentiality of guest and payment information.

5. Coordination
- Coordinate with Service, Bar, Kitchen, Floor Manager, Restaurant Manager, and Accounts.
- Verify that all orders are properly posted before billing.
- Coordinate with the bar team regarding beverage bills and complimentary drinks.
- Inform the Manager about unusual transactions or billing discrepancies.

6. Compliance & Control
- Follow company policies for cash handling and billing.
- Ensure GST/tax charges are correctly applied.
- Do not process unauthorized discounts, refunds, or cancellations.
- Maintain proper records of refunds, voids, discounts, and complimentary bills.
