About the Role

Our têxtile sizing chemicals business has served the Ichalkaranji and Erode powerloom clusters for over four decades. This role is to develop an in-house acrylic/VAc-acrylic emulsion co-binder for cotton and cotton-blend warp sizing — reducing our dependence on bought-out binder and giving us a proprietary product tailored to the fabric mix our mills actually run.

This is a build role: bench synthesis through pilot batch, validated on real looms with our existing customer base in both clusters.

What You'll Do
- Design and run emulsion polymerization trials (VAc-BA and BA-MMA systems) targeting a soft, alkali-desizable, non-crosslinked film suited to cotton warp sizing
- Tune monomer ratios, functional comonomer level (acrylic/methacrylic acid), particle size, and solids content against defined film Tg, adhesion, and desizing targets
- Characterize batches: film Tg, MFFT, particle size, viscosity, solids, pH, and desizing performance under standard alkaline scour




- Scale successful formulations from lab to pilot/production batch
- Run loom-floor trials with pilot mills across Ichalkaranji and Erode — warp breakage rate, abrasion resistance, beam consistency — and adapt the recipe to local water quality and fabric construction differences between the two clusters
- Maintain formulation records, batch cards, and QC protocols, submitted directly to the promoter's office
- Support technical conversations with mill customers on sizing recipe adaptation (liquor concentration, add-on %, starch blend ratios)

What We're Looking For
- M.Sc./Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field; B.Tech with robust hands-on emulsion polymerization experience also considered
- Direct experience with emulsion/suspension polymerization — batch reactor operation, monomer feed, surfactant/initiator systems
- Working knowledge of warp sizing and desizing chemis
