The Senior Resident in Gynaecologic Oncology will provide comprehensive clinical care to patients with suspected and confirmed gynaecological maligcies. The role includes inpatient and outpatient careperioperative management assisting in and performing procedures appropriate to the level of training emergency caremultidisciplinary coordination academic teachingand participation in clinical research and quality-improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage patients with suspected or confirmed gynaecological cancersincluding cancers of the cervix ovary endometrium vulva vagina and gestational trophoblastic disease.
- Participate in gynaecologic oncology outpatient clinics inpatient roundsemergency servicesand pre-operative and post-operative care.
- Assist in andwhere appropriately trained and credentialed perform gynaecologic oncology procedures under consultant supervision.
- Participate in the surgical management of gynaecological maligcies including staging procedures cytoreductive surgeryand other relevant oncologic procedures.
- Provide perioperative careincluding assessment of surgical fitnessoptimisation of comorbidities post-operative monitoringand management of complications.
- Participate in the administration and monitoring of systemic anticancer treatment as per departmental protocols and institutional policies.
- Coordinate patient care with medical oncologyradiation oncology pathology radiology anaesthesia palliative careand other multidisciplinary teams.
- Present cases at multidisciplinary tumour boards and contribute to treatment planning.
- Counsel patients and their families regarding diagnosis treatment options prognosis follow-upfertility considerationsand supportive care.
- Recognise and manage oncological emergencies and post-operative complications escalating appropriately to consultants and relevant specialties.
- Maintain accurate clinical recordsoperative notestreatment documentation discharge summaries and follow-up plans.
- Supervise and guide junior residentsinterns and medical students in clinical and academic activities.
- Participate in departmental teachingcase presentationsjournal clubsmorbidity and mortality meetings CME programmesand academic discussions.
- Participate in clinical auditsresearch projectsclinical trialspublicationsand quality-improvement initiatives.
