Role: SQL Developer - Data Migration Specialist

Purpose of the role A hands-on technical resource to lead data-migration: extracting data from legacy systems, transforming and cleansing it in SQL, mapping it to the target VantagePoint templates, and loading it via Deltek's import mechanism — repeatably across five go-live waves. This is a purely technical role: it does not include business stakeholder engagement, running data-mapping workshops, or building reports (the project team and the BI function own those).

Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, views and functions for data retrieval and manipulation.
- Migrate data from various competing legacy systems into the new SaaS solution (VantagePoint), ensuring data quality and integrity.
- Take source extracts (typically CSV), bring them into a database, manipulate and reshape the data,



and output it into the format required by the Deltek import mechanism (expected to be API-based).
- Map data between disparate systems (source to target), working to the field-level mapping and taxonomy provided by the project team.
- Cleanse and de-duplicate data as part of the migration.
- Maintain documentation of the migration and database processes and best practices.

Essential skills

- Minimum 3 years' experience in SQL Server development, including writing and optimising complex queries and stored procedures.
- Strong T-SQL skills (a genuine requirement — our target data model uses T-SQL).
- Experience with data migration and ETL processes (SSIS).
- Familiarity with calling APIs / endpoints to load data into a target system in the required format — not a full software-engineering background, but comfortable pushing data to endpoints rather than only writing statements.
- Data mapping, cleansing and de-duplication on large, messy datasets from CSV extracts.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Desirable

- Experience migrating legacy systems into a SaaS platform; exposure to Deltek / PSA systems.
- Familiarity with HubSpot and/or Access Dimensions data structures.
- Awareness of SharePoint-based document-migration tooling (though CMAP document migration may be handled as a separate, specialist piece).

Explicitly out of scope

- Business stakeholder engagement and running data-mapping workshops (project team owns).
- Reporting, analytics or Power BI development (VantagePoint out-of-the-box + the Fabric/BI team own this).
- System/infrastructure DBA administration.
