RESPONSIBILITIES
SOLAR PROJECT CALCULATION & ESTIMATION
- Prepare detailed technical and commercial calculations for Solar PV projects.
- Calculate system capacity and generation, module requirements, inverter capacity, DC/AC ratio, cable requirements, mounting structure requirements and other Balance of System (BOS) components.
- Prepare detailed BOQs/BOMs based on project specifications.
- Review technical drawings, layouts, Single-Line Diagrams (SLDs) and project specifications.
- Evaluate project feasibility from technical and commercial perspectives.
COSTING & BUDGETING
- Prepare project-wise cost estimates and budgets.
- Calculate the complete project cost, including solar modules, inverters, mounting structures, DC/AC cables, LT/HT equipment, transformers, SCADA and monitoring systems, civil works, installation and commissioning, transportation, logistics, manpower, testing, commissioning and AMC/O&M.;
- Prepare cost sheets, comparative statements and profitability analyses.
- Monitor actual project expenditure against approved budgets.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising project quality or performance.
COST ANALYSIS & COMMERCIAL MANAGEMENT
- Analyse vendor quotations and conduct rate comparisons.
- Prepare detailed comparative statements for procurement.
- Analyse material, labour, logistics and installation costs.
- Calculate project margins, contribution and expected profitability.
- Identify cost overruns and implement corrective measures.
- Support management with bid and tender pricing and commercial negotiations.
VENDOR & OEM ENGAGEMENT
- Identify and develop relationships with solar OEMs, EPC vendors, manufacturers and suppliers.
- Engage with OEMs and suppliers of solar modules, inverters, mounting structures, transformers, HT/LT panels, cables, batteries/ESS, SCADA and monitoring systems.
- Obtain quotations, technical datasheets, delivery schedules and commercial terms.
- Negotiate pricing, credit terms, warranties,
delivery timelines and after-sales support.
- Maintain an updated and approved vendor/OEM database.
PROCUREMENT & OEM SUPPLY COORDINATION
- Coordinate the end-to-end procurement of materials required for solar projects.
- Ensure procurement is aligned with project schedules and cash-flow requirements.
- Track purchase orders, dispatches, deliveries and material shortages.
- Coordinate with OEMs to ensure timely supply and resolve technical or commercial issues.
- Verify supplied materials against approved specifications and BOQs.
PROJECT COORDINATION
- Coordinate with Engineering, Procurement, Finance, Site and Project Execution teams.
- Monitor project progress against approved costs and schedules.
- Support project teams in resolving procurement-related and technical issues.
- Ensure the timely availability of critical materials at project sites.
- Prepare regular project cost and procurement reports for management.
DESIRED TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE The candidate should have practical knowledge of:
- Solar PV system design and estimation
- Rooftop, ground-mounted and Commercial & Industrial (C&I;) solar projects
- BOQ/BOM preparation
- Solar generation calculations
- Module and inverter sizing
- DC/AC calculations
- Electrical Balance of System (BOS)
- HT/LT systems
- Solar mounting structures
- EPC costing and project budgeting
- Vendor and OEM management
- Procurement and supply-chain coordination
- Rate analysis and commercial negotiation
- Excel-based financial and project calculations
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Advanced MS Excel skills with strong numerical and analytical ability
- Excellent costing and estimation skills
- Solid vendor negotiation skills
- Ability to independently prepare project cost sheets
- Strong commercial acumen
- Good understanding of the Solar EPC business
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and vendors simultaneously
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- B.Tech/B.E. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Renewable Energy
- A diploma holder with strong and relevant Solar EPC experience may also be considered
- MBA/PGDM in Project Management, Operations or Finance will be an added advantage
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Experience in Solar EPC, Renewable Energy, Electrical EPC, Infrastructure or Power Projects
- Practical exposure to project costing, procurement and vendor/OEM management
- Candidates from Solar EPC companies, module or inverter OEMs, electrical equipment manufacturers or renewable energy developers will be preferred

IDEAL CANDIDATE The ideal candidate will be a commercially strong Solar Project Manager who can understand the technical requirements of a project, convert them into a detailed BOQ and cost estimate, negotiate with OEMs and vendors, finalise procurement rates and continuously monitor project profitability. Strong preference will be given to candidates who can independently manage the complete project cycle:
