Shopify Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE

Kyro is looking for a Shopify Engineer to own the technical backbone of our D2C storefront. This isn't an install-an-app-and-call-it-done role you'll be building custom themes, wiring up integrations, optimizing for speed and conversion, and making sure the store scales as fast as the brand does. You'll report directly to the CTO and work closely with growth, design, and ops to turn business asks into shipped features on the storefront.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

- Build, customize, and maintain Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Develop and maintain custom Shopify apps / private apps using the Shopify API (REST & GraphQL)
- Own site performance page speed, Core Web Vitals, mobile responsiveness, conversion-friendly UX
- Integrate third-party tools: CRMs, ERPs, subscription platforms, loyalty programs, reviews, CDPs, and payment gateways (Klaviyo, WhatsApp commerce, etc.)
- Work with Shopify Plus features where applicable: checkout customization, Shopify Functions, Flow automations
- Debug and resolve storefront bugs, cart/checkout issues, and app conflicts quickly downtime is lost revenue
- Collaborate with design to convert Figma/XD mockups into pixel-accurate, responsive storefronts
- Set up and maintain clean tracking to analytics/attribution tools (GA4, Meta Pixel, server-side tracking)
- Audit the app ecosystem for bloat, script conflicts, and speed drag




- Support seasonal sale readiness (BFCM-style spikes) with load testing and QA

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

- 1–3 years hands-on experience building/maintaining Shopify or Shopify Plus stores
- Strong command of Liquid, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS/SCSS
- Experience with Shopify's Storefront/Admin APIs, both REST and GraphQL
- Familiarity with headless Shopify setups (Hydrogen, Next.js) is a plus
- Experience integrating third-party apps and writing custom app logic
- Understanding of D2C-specific needs: subscriptions, COD, bundles, loyalty, upsells/cross-sells
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, growth-driven setting with shifting priorities
- An eye for UX and conversion you notice when something feels off, not just when it's broken
- Git-based workflow experience

NICE TO HAVE

- Experience with Shopify Plus / Shopify Functions / Checkout Extensibility
- Exposure to performance marketing stack (Meta, Google Ads, Klaviyo) from an integration standpoint
- Past experience in a D2C brand or e-commerce agency
