As a Senior Analyst within our U.S.

Voluntary Compliance

Services (VCS) team, you will play a critical role in navigating the complexities of historical tax liability and remediation for our customers. You will act as a senior advisor and primary point of contact for clients, internal stakeholders, and state taxing authorities, guiding customers through state voluntary disclosure and amnesty programs to mitigate penalty and audit risk. In this role, you will report to the Manager Professional Services and work in office based out of Pune,

What Your Responsibilities Will Be

- Own the end-to-end preparation, processing, analysis, and quality assurance of historical Sales & Use tax returns for complex, multi-jurisdiction voluntary compliance engagements.
- Independently manage complex reconciliations and variance analysis between client transactional data, prior filings, and proposed disclosure returns while maintaining clear audit trails.
- Serve as the primary liaison with customers, project managers, and state taxing authorities, handling sensitive negotiations and providing clear status communications.
- Drive operational efficiency by identifying and implementing scalable, AI-driven workflow enhancements for data validation, document retrieval, and exposure reporting.
- Mentor junior analysts in case handling, nexus and exposure analysis, high-quality documentation, client-ready communication, and the effective, compliant use of AI tools.
- Partner proactively with sales and account management teams to scope out prospective compliance and remediation engagements, offering clear, data-backed delivery perspectives.
- Maintain and continuously improve standard operating procedures for data intake, nexus validation, reconciliation,



and notice handling to align with jurisdictional rules and Avalara standards.

What You’ll Need To Be Successful

- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or a related field; or an MBA in Finance.
- 4 years of U.S. indirect tax / Sales & Use tax compliance experience, ideally including voluntary disclosure, amnesty, or remediation programs.
- Demonstrated experience managing multi-jurisdiction return portfolios and handling compliance escalations such as notices, penalty and interest issues, and nexus questions.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (complex formulas, pivot tables, large data-set handling) and the ability to confidently manipulate complex historical transaction data.
- Proven experience applying AI tools in a professional setting to improve operational speed, quality, or scale, particularly in data analysis, documentation, or reporting workflows.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex historical tax and exposure topics in clear, client-friendly language to both internal and external stakeholders.
