Senior Test Automation Engineer / Senior Software Development Engineer in Test

Experience : 3 to 8 Years.

About the role :

IQGeo is seeking Senior Test Automation Engineers / Senior Software Development Engineers in Test to help move quality assurance to being majority-automated. These roles span Platform Shared Services and Engineering Infrastructure teams. You will play a key role in developing and maintaining comprehensive automated test suites, with manual testing only where automation is not practical.

Key responsibilities :

- Ensure that our enterprise applications are delivered with the appropriate level of quality.
- Capture the requirements and acceptance criteria of newly developed functionality in test cases, and manage the overall inventory of test cases to ensure it remains up to date.
- Minimise the need for manual testing by transforming suitable test cases into automated tests.
- Collaborate with Product Management on refining feature requests, ensuring testability stays top of mind when transforming requirements to implementation.
- Conduct manual exploratory and regression testing when automation is not practical or timing demands it.
- Use AI to generate initial test suites from BDD acceptance criteria, reviewing and refining AI-generated tests for behavioural accuracy before committing them.
- Define and maintain AI-assisted testing standards for the team, including prompt templates for test generation and quality criteria for AI-generated test coverage.
- Apply AI tools to accelerate coverage gap analysis, defect triage, and test case documentation.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Test Automation Engineers on best practices and tooling.
- Participate in an on-call rotation.

Mandatory AI Engineering Competencies :

- Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work effectively in an AI-First Software Development Lifecycle.
- Proficient in AI-assisted software development using up-to-date coding assistants to accelerate design, implementation,



testing and documentation.
- Ability to translate business requirements into structured specifications prior to implementation (Spec-Driven Development).
- Strong prompt engineering skills for software engineering tasks including code generation, test generation, debugging, documentation and architecture.
- Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated outputs for correctness, security, performance and maintainability.
- Experience using AI to generate and maintain automated unit, API and integration tests.
- Demonstrated ability to work with AI agents while retaining full engineering ownership and accountability.

Essential Qualifications &

Experience :

You must have all of the following :

- Experience maintaining test automation frameworks.
- Experience with end-to-end testing using Playwright.
- Experience with a test case management tool (e.g., TestRail).
- Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, or a similar programming language.
- A keen eye for detail and the ability to identify, isolate, and document defects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience guiding and mentoring QA Test Engineers.
- Experience using Git or other distributed version control systems.
- Fluent written and spoken English.

Desired Qualifications &

Experience :

Ideally, you'll have some of the following :

- ISTQB certification or similar proof of experience in quality assurance.
- Experience with Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) or web mapping software.
- Experience working in an Agile environment, with an understanding of Scrum methodology.
- Experience in the telecommunications and/or utilities industries.
- Experience using containers for development environments.
- Experience with Linux system architecture/administration and supporting network architecture.
- Experience working in cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

Education :

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent industry experience.
