About Lumber

Lumber is transforming workforce management for construction, helping contractors manage payroll, time tracking, scheduling, HR, compliance, and worker engagement.

We're looking for a Senior Product Designer who combines strong design craft with product thinking, customer empathy, and an extreme degree of ownership.

The Role: Product Builder

At Lumber, we operate by EOE: Energy, Ownership, and Experimentation . Our Product Builder model puts those principles into practice.

Product Builders don't just receive requirements and produce designs. They own problems from discovery through launch. You'll talk directly to customers, understand the market, shape requirements, design and validate solutions, partner closely with Engineering, and help bring what you build to market.

This role demands speed, adaptability, and creative problem-solving. We use every tool at our disposal, including AI, to reduce handoffs, prototype faster, solve problems more efficiently, and dramatically increase what each individual can accomplish.

Your foundation is still Product Design. You'll remain part of our Design team, participate in critiques, evolve our design system, mentor other designers, and maintain a high craft bar.

Customer-facing ownership is essential. Once onboarded, you should be comfortable independently leading discovery, presenting solutions, and demonstrating the product to customers and prospects.

What You'll Do

- Own problems end-to-end : From discovery and requirements through design, validation, launch, and iteration.
- Work directly with customers : Lead discovery, usability testing, solution reviews,



and product demos.
- Simplify complex workflows : Design intuitive experiences across payroll, time tracking, scheduling, HR, and workforce management.
- Prototype and validate quickly : Highly comfortable with Figma and leverage AI tools to rapidly explore, prototype, and test solutions.
- Understand the market : Research competitors and adjacent products to inform product and design decisions.
- Partner deeply with Engineering : Work through feasibility, tradeoffs, implementation, and quality.
- Raise the design bar : Contribute to our design system, critiques, and mentorship of other designers.
- Support go-to-market : Help with demos, positioning, sales enablement, and rollout for what you build.

What We're Looking For

- 5+ years of Product Design experience in B2B SaaS
- Bonus : Experience with B2C mobile UI/UX design
- Bonus : Experience with construction tech, payroll, HR tech, time tracking, scheduling, FinTech, AI products, or AI-assisted development/coding tools
- Excellent interaction, visual, and systems design skills.
- Strong Figma and component-based design system experience.
- Comfortable independently leading customer discovery and product demos.
- Robust product judgment and willingness to challenge what should be built, not just design what was requested.
- Experience with complex, data-heavy applications.
- Strong communication and ability to work directly with Product, Engineering, customers, and leadership.
- Comfortable using AI for research, analysis, prototyping, and iteration.
- Experience mentoring or elevating other designers.
- A demonstrated bias toward EOE (Energy, Ownership, and Experimentation).
- Based in Bangalore or willing to relocate and work from the Lumber Bangalore office.
