We are seeking a talented individual to join as Manager/Senior Manager – Data Management in the Marsh Innovation and Data Office (IDO) - Data Strategy team. This role will be based in Mumbai. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least two days a week in the office.

IDO Data Strategy is a global team of data management professionals working with a mission of making available high quality data that drives business decision making to Marsh Colleagues across the globe. The group has a footprint within the India Knowledge Services (IKS) function at Marsh Global Capability Centre in Mumbai, India. IKS is a hub of several hundred professionals that work with Marsh businesses across a wide range of capabilities.

We will count on you to:

- Lead end-to-end management of key data assets and workstreams, including planning, prioritization, execution, monitoring, and risk mitigation to ensure timely delivery and alignment with business objectives.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams—business, IT, analytics, data governance, and operations—to gather and translate complex business and technical requirements into scalable data solutions and processes.
- Lead regular stakeholder meetings and workshops to drive accountability and progress.
- Lead integration and system collaboration efforts, coordinating with technology teams and system owners to ensure seamless data integration, mapping, and security between source systems, data lakes, and master data repositories.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy and architecture aligned with organizational goals, including data design, standards, governance, and innovation to support business growth and operational excellence.
- Lead independent analysis and research initiatives to identify system improvements, validate data quality, and generate actionable insights that support strategic decision-making and operational efficiency.
- In-depth data analysis: Analyse source datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can drive business decisions. Develop data models and perform data mapping to ensure accurate data flow between systems.
- Establish and oversee formal governance frameworks for critical data sets, including defining data quality rules, KPIs, SLAs, data taxonomy, and ensuring compliance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation by staying abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, recommending and piloting new tools and methodologies to enhance data management capabilities.
- Perform Testing and Quality Assurance: Develop test plans and test cases to validate the functionality and performance of new systems or enhancements. Collaborate with the testing team to execute test cases and ensure the quality of deliverables.
- Manage and mentor a high-performing team of data professionals, fostering a performance-driven culture through coaching, training,



performance evaluations, resource planning, and recruitment to build capability and ensure delivery excellence.
- Champion data quality and integrity by working collaboratively to develop and maintain data quality metrics, rules, and monitoring processes that ensure accurate, consistent, and secure data flow across systems.
- Facilitate effective communication and stakeholder engagement, translating complex data requirements into clear technical solutions, conducting training sessions, and managing change to drive adoption and alignment.
- Oversee resource planning and risk management to ensure the team has the necessary skills and capacity to meet project and operational goals.
- Ensure compliance with ethical standards and organizational policies, promoting data privacy, security, integrity, and responsible data use in line with the company’s code of conduct and applicable laws.

What you need to have: -

Education and Experience

- MBA in technology or bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems
- At least 10 years of individual contribution in Data Management, Governance and Analytics

- At least 2 years of experience in people management

Non Technical Competencies

- Ability to effectively communicate complex data concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences and present data insights in a compelling and understandable manner, using data storytelling techniques to engage and inspire action.
- Experience with at least two projects with full the data lifecycle—from identification to sourcing to ingestion to transformation to classifications to modelling to storage to analytics and visualization.
- Working knowledge of Agile and other SDLC methodologies, including producing user stories and participating in sprints and daily scrums; familiarity with Six Sigma and Lean principles
- A deep and abiding appreciation for all things data—its role, impact, challenges, and potential with an organization.
- A strong willingness to learn a new domain--getting into its deepest details and being hands-on.
- The capability to pose thoughtful questions calmly and considerately, promoting effective communication with domain and subject matter experts.
- Experience operating independently but also knowing when to ask for help.
- Ability to think creatively (vs. by rote) to ensure completeness, accuracy, and utility.
- Solid communication, along with ability to extract business requirements from client use cases and translating these requirements into technical specifications.




- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills leveraging both traditional (e.g. Office; Teams) tools as well as software lifecycle tools like Azure DevOps, JIRA.
- Ability and willingness to collaborate at all levels of a global organization to ensure the successful implementation of change
- An inquisitive mind that is not afraid to question current ways of thinking

Technical Skills:

- Proficiency in advanced SQL writing skills
- Proficiency in Python coding
- Expertise in RDBMS such as Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server etc.
- Experience with Databricks and cloud-based data platforms.
- Exposure to Lake house, data lake, data warehousing concepts and BI reporting tools.
- Experience with data modeling techniques using tools such as ERWin or PowerDesigner
- Experience with DevOps generally, CI/CD building and cloud platforms preferably in AWS (e.g. S3 buckets, Voltage, EMR, Spark, and Kafka)
- Experience with ETL concepts and design using Informatica, DataStage etc.
- Experience in working with different database structures (e.g. Mongo DB, Postgres), Data Quality and Data Visualization tools (particularly Qlik, Power BI).

What makes you stand out?

- Familiarity with the commercial insurance business (non-life insurance)
- Strong data strategy and operating model experience: ability to define target-state data architecture, ownership (RACI), stewardship model, and delivery roadmap aligned to business priorities.
- Experience with the Informatica suite of Data Management and Governance tools
- Understanding of information (e.g. sources, identifiers, standards, glossaries, and taxonomies) within the insurance industry data domain.
- Good to have Agile, CDMP or TOGAF certifications.
