Our teams operate from multiple global delivery centers, supporting Zurich’s business units worldwide.

SUMMARY:

A keen developer and problem solver working within the Life and Investments/GI Integration Squads, mainly with MuleSoft ESB and Java technologies.

Responsible for the technical design, creating and managing the frameworks, designs, and plans for integrating various technology systems and applications.

Also guiding developers, Code reviews and support/ troubleshooting of various components and projects (this includes level 3 support).

Ensure high-quality development & production support for critical applications and implements technical changes to make strategic improvements.

Reporting to the Platform Lead/Chapter Lead and working closely together with other Analyst Programmers, Squad Leads, Solution Designers, Business Analysts, QA Leads and Project Managers.

KEY TASKS & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

- Work closely with other Analyst Programmers, Squad leads, Project Managers, Solution Architects and Business Analysts to translate requirements into technical designs
- Detailed design of applications from business requirements. Write production quality executable code (including documentation on the WIKI) for user interfaces, business processes, domain objects etc.
- Validation of code quality using walkthroughs, code reviews and unit tests
- Creation of scripts to create and maintain databases
- Third level support of existing applications
- Production incident and problem management
- Development of application build and deployment scripts or configuration.




- Contributing across development teams to increase capability in tools, frameworks, experience, collaboration and strategy development
- Ensure secure application design and development practices are followed
- Ability to work with vendors and other 3rd party providers
- Reporting on tasks, risks and issues to various levels of the organization
- Ownership of assigned deliverables, contributing to the delivery of projects and ensuring the solution agreed is the solution delivered
- Ensure testing coverage is adequate and ensure that the quality standards are met (including non-functional requirements)
- Ensure the deliverables are aligned to supportability and maintainability guidelines

RELATIONSHIPS:

- Work closely with the Squad Lead and with other Analyst Programmers, Solution Architects, Squad Leads, Business Analysts, QA Leads, Project Managers, and the Help Desk
- Interaction with business subject matter experts and application owners.
- Interaction with QA Team members on a regular basis.
- Work ad hoc with Data Tribe team, Mainframe developers, Group Information Security, IT infrastructure and other teams as needed.
- This role will also require dealing directly with external technology vendors and with other internal technology teams.

COMMUNICATION:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline
- 10+ years of experience in programming and Application design, with a minimum of 7+ years with MuleSoft ESB (MCD lvl1 and MCIA Lvl1 certifications are mandatory)
- Experience in MuleSoft 5 with Cloud capabilities highly desirable
- Strong experience with Microservices and API design
- Experience with Omni Gateway, MCP & Agent Brokers.
- Strong understanding of data integration principles and methodologies




- Robust technical acumen and ability to keep up with the latest technology trends
- Java experience (certification desirable)
- Demonstrated system implementation skills.
- Flexible attitude in order to meet outcomes required.

KNOWLEDGE:

- Ability to implement solutions according to formal development methodologies, including Agile/SCRUM and Waterfall methodologies.
- Experience in working with both functional and non-functional requirements.
- Knowledge of service layer applications and tools, specifically MuleSoft ESB
- Experience delivering online Life insurance applications desirable

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

- Experience with ESB software, specifically MuleSoft ESB
- Work closely with developers, architects, and other technical teams to ensure the successful execution of integration tasks.
- Creating and managing the frameworks, designs, and plans for integrating various technology systems and applications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues, providing technical guidance and support throughout the implementation process.
- Write production quality executable code (including documentation) for user interfaces, business processes, domain objects, etc. and database scripts.
- Experience in working with Anypoint tools i.e. Studio, Exchange, Designer, CloudHub, Runtime Manager, MCP, A2A, Broker, Monitoring etc..
- Validation of code quality using walkthroughs, code reviews and unit tests using MUnit.
- Java core and Java Web Framework experience
- Experience in API development using SOAP, REST, JMS and FTP
- Experience in working with RAML, XML Schemas, Json, CSV formats.
- Experience working with security patterns like SAML, OAUTH, JWT etc..
- Experience working with AI-assisted tools (VIBE, Co-pilot or similar…)
- Familiar with Continuous Build integration tools including Bamboo, GIT and Azure Devops.
- Confident with application build and deployment scripts/configuration
- Experience with Relation database (DB2, Postgres), AWS SQS, SNS, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, IBM MQ, Unix, Windows platforms, Shell Scripting and Atlassian suite of tools including JIRA and Confluence

Desirable:

- In-depth knowledge in providing cloud-based solutions, specifically with AWS and Salesforce
- Experience in integration with Salesforce development environment.
