Role & responsibilities
- Plan, implement, monitor, and continuously improve the Hospital Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) Program in accordance with NABH, NABL, JCI (if applicable), and statutory guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with infection control policies, standard precautions, isolation protocols, hand hygiene, and biomedical waste management practices.
- Lead infection control rounds, audits, and environmental surveillance across all clinical and non-clinical areas.
- Investigate infection outbreaks, perform root cause analysis, and coordinate containment measures with multidisciplinary teams.
- Monitor sterilization and disinfection processes, CSSD practices, and environmental cleaning standards.
- Organize and deliver infection control training, orientation, and competency assessments for nursing, medical, and allied healthcare staff.
- Collaborate with clinicians, microbiology, quality, nursing, housekeeping, engineering, and other departments to ensure effective infection prevention practices.
- Prepare monthly infection control reports, dashboards, committee presentations, and regulatory documentation.
- Participate in NABH accreditation activities, internal audits, external audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Monitor compliance with antimicrobial stewardship initiatives in coordination with the microbiology and clinical teams.
- Ensure timely reporting and documentation of infection-related incidents and implementation of corrective actions.
Preferred candidate profile
- Qualification: B.Sc. Nursing/Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing/M.Sc. Nursing (preferred).
- Certification: Infection Control Certification (preferred)
- Experience: 8-10 years in Infection Control in a NABH-accredited multispecialty hospital.
- Thorough knowledge of infection prevention guidelines, surveillance methodologies, biomedical waste management, sterilization and disinfection practices, and HAI prevention bundles.
- Experience in conducting infection surveillance, audits, outbreak investigations, and quality improvement projects.
- Strong understanding of NABH standards and accreditation requirements.
- Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, and training skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and hospital information systems for data analysis and reporting.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and influence compliance across departments.
- Solid leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities with attention to detail.
Preferred: Candidates with prior experience in NABH-accredited hospital and exposure to accreditation audits will be given preference.
