: Senior Embedded Software Engineer
Experience: Senior (5+ years)
Location: Bengaluru (in office)
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to develop reliable,
high-performance firmware for next-generation radio communication and defense systems. You will work closely with hardware, FPGA, and RF teams to build robust embedded platforms running on STM32 and similar microcontroller-based systems.
This role requires deep expertise in bare-metal programming, real-time operating systems, and low-level hardware interfacing, along with the ability to design software that operates reliably in mission-critical environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for STM32-based systems.
- Develop low-level drivers and board support packages (BSP) for peripherals and
custom hardware.
- Implement real-time embedded software using RTOS frameworks.
- Work extensively with bare-metal programming, interrupts, timers, and memory
management.
- Interface with hardware components such as radios, ADC/DACs, sensors, and
communication modules. Develop and optimize communication protocols and data handling pipelines.
- Perform system bring-up, debugging, and validation on new hardware platforms.
- Collaborate closely with hardware, RF, and FPGA teams for system integration.
- Debug complex issues using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG/SWD
debuggers.
- Write and maintain technical documentation, firmware architecture documents,
and test procedures.
- Participate in code reviews and maintain high standards for reliability and
maintainability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering,
or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in embedded firmware development.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.
- Extensive experience with STM32 microcontrollers or similar ARM Cortex-M
platforms.
- Strong understanding of bare-metal programming and low-level hardware
control.
- Hands-on experience with RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, ThreadX, or similar).
- Experience developing device drivers for SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, GPIO, and timers.
- Strong debugging skills using JTAG/SWD tools and hardware debugging
instruments.
- Familiarity with Git-based development workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on radio communication systems or RF hardware.
- Familiarity with defense, aerospace, or mission-critical embedded systems.
- Experience with high-speed data interfaces and real-time streaming systems.
- Knowledge of signal processing concepts used in radio systems.
- Experience with embedded bootloaders and firmware update mechanisms.
- Exposure to low-power embedded system design.
- Experience integrating systems with FPGA-based processing platforms.
Key Skills
- Languages: C, C++
- Platforms: STM32, Raspberry Pi, ARM Cortex-M
- RTOS: FreeRTOS, ThreadX or similar
- Interfaces: SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, GPIO
- Debugging: JTAG/SWD, Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer
- Version Control: Git
