Role Description The Senior Ecologist internship at Galleonbuild is a remote role focused on integrating ecological considerations into building design and planning workflows. Day-to-day tasks include conducting desk-based research on local ecosystems, reviewing site information, and advising on habitat protection and biodiversity enhancement opportunities.

The intern will support environmental impact screenings, contribute to internal guidelines on sustainable site design, and prepare concise ecological notes and reports for project teams. Collaboration with designers and project managers to identify nature-positive design features and mitigation measures is a central part of the role,



along with maintaining clear documentation and participating in virtual meetings.

Qualifications

- Ecology and biodiversity expertise, including knowledge of wildlife ecology and habitat assessment.
- Botany skills with the ability to identify key plant species and understand vegetation communities relevant to development sites.
- Experience or training in Environmental Impact Assessment, with the ability to interpret project information and assess potential ecological risks.
- Solid Report Writing skills, including the ability to produce clear, structured ecological summaries and recommendations for non-specialist audiences.
- Basic Field Work understanding (e.g., surveys, site observations), even if most work in this internship is desk-based and remote.
- Relevant academic background in ecology, environmental science, conservation biology, or a related discipline (current student or recent graduate preferred).
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage time effectively, and communicate clearly in virtual collaboration tools.
- Interest in sustainable development, green building, and integrating nature-positive practices into design and construction projects.
