Role & responsibilities
- Lead the conceptual and detailed design of aerospace/defense composite and hybrid structures such as radomes, fighter aircraft pods, missile launch canisters, UAV fuselage/wing structures, and pylons.
- Develop 3D CAD models, complex assemblies, and fully dimensioned 2D drawings in compliance with ASME Y14.5 (GD&T;) and aerospace standards.
- Perform structural, thermal, RF-transparent design integration, vibration, and fatigue analysis using tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, HyperWorks).
- Ensure aerodynamic shape optimization in collaboration with aerodynamicists for radomes, pods, and UAV structures.
- Design and validate tooling, molds, jigs, and fixtures for composite layup, autoclave curing, and precision assembly.
- Integrate stealth, radar cross-section (RCS) reduction, and lightweighting requirements in product design.
- Collaborate with materials and manufacturing teams to optimize designs for prepreg layup, vacuum bagging, autoclave processing, RTM, filament winding, and additive manufacturing.
- Prepare and manage engineering documentation, BOMs, qualification test reports, and certification dossiers as per MIL-STD, AS9100, and CEMILAC/DRDO requirements.
- Conduct design reviews (PDR, CDR) with internal stakeholders, customers, and defense agencies.
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers and foster innovation in lightweight aerospace composite designs.
- Support ground testing and flight trials, analyzing test data for correlation and design validation
