: Senior Data Modeler & Power BI Designer (5-8 Years of Experience)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Modeler and Power BI Designer to support our Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), reporting, and business intelligence initiatives.

The role will primarily focus on understanding business reporting requirements, designing analytics-ready dimensional data models, and designing interactive Power BI reports and dashboards. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, business analysts, data engineers, and the EDW team to convert data into accurate, actionable, and easy-to-understand business insights.

Data Modelling and EDW Support

- Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for reporting and analytics.
- Build dimensional models using star and snowflake schemas, including fact tables, dimensions, hierarchies, and conformed dimensions.
- Translate normalized source-system data into business-friendly, reporting-ready structures.
- Define appropriate data granularity, relationships, surrogate keys, historical tracking, and slowly changing dimensions.
- Collaborate with data engineers to ensure data models are implemented efficiently through ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Perform data discovery, profiling, reconciliation, and quality analysis across multiple data sources.
- Prepare and maintain source-to-target mappings, data dictionaries, entity-relationship diagrams, metric definitions, and report specifications.
- Identify data-quality issues, reporting gaps, duplicate calculations, and inconsistencies across reports.
- Participate in impact analysis for changes to source systems, data pipelines, business rules, and reporting requirements.
- Ensure models and reports comply with enterprise naming conventions, modeling standards, governance practices, and security requirements.





Power BI Reporting and Analytics

- Gather and analyze business reporting requirements, KPIs, measures, calculations, and dashboard expectations.
- Design Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Develop reusable Power BI semantic models, datasets, measures, and calculated columns.
- Write and optimize DAX expressions for business calculations, time intelligence, trends, comparisons, and performance indicators.
- Use Power Query and M language for data preparation and transformation where required.
- Configure relationships, hierarchies, calculation logic, and data formats within Power BI models.
- Configure and troubleshoot scheduled refreshes, on-premises data gateways, and Power BI Service deployments.
- Validate report results against source systems and business rules to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Monitor and optimize report, dataset, and dashboard performance.
- Support report publishing, workspace management, deployment, documentation, and user adoption.
- Work with stakeholders to enhance existing reports and reduce dependency on manual reporting processes.

Standards, Governance, and Delivery

- Define and govern data modeling, semantic modeling, reporting, and design standards across enterprise data initiatives.
- Establish and promote naming conventions, modeling standards, development guidelines, and reusable design patterns.
- Ensure consistent definitions of business metrics, KPIs, dimensions,



and reporting terminology across different solutions.
- Support metadata management, data cataloguing, lineage, data-quality, and governance initiatives.
- Conduct design and code reviews for data models, SQL objects, Power BI datasets, and reports.
- Perform hands-on solution design, configuration, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and proof-of-concept development.
- Identify data-quality gaps, inconsistent business definitions, and reporting discrepancies, and coordinate their resolution.
- Work proactively and independently to manage project requirements, dependencies, risks, issues, and delivery timelines.
- Clearly articulate technical challenges, design decisions, and delivery risks to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Mentor team members and provide technical guidance on data modeling, SQL, and Power BI best practices.

Preferred Skills

- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI dataflows, deployment pipelines, incremental refresh, and reusable semantic models.
- Experience using performance optimization tools such as Power BI Performance Analyzer and DAX Studio.
- Experience working with large datasets and optimizing reporting solutions for performance and scalability.
- Experience working in Agile or Scrum-based delivery environments.
- Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst or an equivalent certification would be an advantage.
