Job Overview:

This is a full-time on-site role for an SDS2 Modeler at Strutek Designs in Coimbatore. The Modeler will be responsible for creating detailed structural steel models using SDS2, collaborating with the engineering and detailing team, ensuring accuracy in models, and coordinating with clients and fabricators.

Responsibilities and Duties:

- Work closely with Modelers/Checkers and Project Managers to prepare/submit fabrication and erection drawings for structural and architectural projects for commercial/industrial buildings.
- Serve as a support analyst and operate detailing platforms such as SDS/2
- Must comply with the requirements of the design drawings and all industry standards and protocols, such as those established by the AISC and AWS while complying with current OSHA and NISD guidelines
- Provide support in editing standards and/or company procedures which relate to steel detailing
- Must have experience and knowledge of existing engineering codes, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences
- Detailer will suggest solutions anywhere drawings have insufficient information, which are subject to the approval of the architect and structural engineer




- Conduct Document Control through revision by keeping track of changes during the drawing creation workflow
- Prepare approval, erection and fabrication drawings for projects using SDS/2/Tekla
- Accurately complete and check all necessary system input for finalization of fabrication and erection drawings, shop details, and Bill of Materials
- Communicate complex and technical application issues to non-technical parties verbally and/or written
- Ability to meet scheduled deadlines on a regular basis while maintaining a high level of accuracy, quality, and being able to manage multiple projects at once.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s/Diploma degree of Civil or Mechanical Engineering is required
- Work Experience in SDS2 may substitute as an equivalent to a Bachelor’s/Diploma degree
- 1-6 Years of experience in steel detailing on SDS2 is a must
- Working knowledge of AISC codes, OSHA, AWS, and other industry standards is a must
- Strong experience in reading and interpreting structural/architectural design drawings
- Robust knowledge of steel fabrication and erection
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications
- Basic mathematics including geometry and trigonometry
- Knowledge of welding specifications
- Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel) and Google Workspace
- Able to work in Shifts
