Satellite Systems Engineer
Location: Bengaluru, India
Type: Full time
Experience: 3 to 5 years
About the role:
Our spacecraft only succeed when every subsystem- power, thermal, ADCS, comms, C&DH; & payload works as one machine. That's your job.
As our Satellite Systems Engineer, you'll own end-to-end systems integration, turning subsystem designs and vendor deliverables into a spacecraft that clears its reviews, survives its test campaign, and performs on orbit.
You'll work daily with subsystem leads, payload engineers, AIT, and mission operations, reporting to the CTO, and you'll be the person in the room who holds the whole-vehicle picture.
What you'll do:
- Own system requirements flow-down and traceability, from mission requirements to subsystem specs, ICDs, and compliance matrices that engineers actually trust
- Establish and defend the spacecraft resource budgets (mass, power, thermal, data, link), tracking margins and allocations through the full lifecycle
- Run system-level trade studies that let the team choose configurations and subsystems with confidence
- Carry the system through its design reviews , SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, FRR.
- Support Assembly, Integration & Test: functional testing, environmental campaigns (TVAC, vibration, EMI/EMC), and anomaly resolution through to root cause
- Coordinate technical interfaces with subsystem suppliers and the launch provider, from compatibility assessments through launch campaign, LEOP, and commissioning.
What we're looking for:
- Engineering degree (Aerospace, Electronics,
Mechanical, Avionics, or related) with hands-on experience on at least one flight spacecraft programme through development, AIT, and ideally launch
- Robust systems engineering fundamentals: requirements management, verification planning, interface definition, and configuration control
- Working fluency across multiple spacecraft subsystems and bus–payload integration. You are able to speak credibly to mechanical, electrical, thermal, and software interfaces
- Proven ability to produce documentation that holds up - ICDs, compliance matrices, test reports with meticulous attention to detail
- Analytical comfort with the tools of the trade: MATLAB/Python for systems modelling, plus SWaP and link budget analysis
Nice to have:
- Mission analysis tools (STK, GMAT, Orekit) and MBSE tools (SysML, Cameo, Capella)
- Familiarity with international standards and practices (ECSS, CCSDS, NASA or equivalent)
- Launch vehicle interface experience, FE model exchanges, interface verification, readiness reviews
