SAP Lead

Purpose of the role :

Leads the SAP team end to end - the technical development portfolio, ticket resolution and service levels, and the migration planning for SAP ECC. The role combines functional depth in FI with hands-on development understanding, and carries direct accountability for reducing recurring technical issues and for setting the direction on HANA or alternative ERP migration.

Key result areas :

- Manage SAP technical development - set development priorities, allocate resource across development and support work, run regular status reviews, and provide direction and solutions on escalated items.
- Review ticket service levels across the team, and drive automation initiatives that reduce recurring tasks and repeat tickets.
- Lead the migration plan for SAP ECC - to HANA or to an alternative ERP - including readiness assessment, sequencing, risk and sign-off.

Key responsibilities :

- Own the SAP development portfolio: priorities, resource allocation, delivery tracking and technical direction.
- Oversee issue ticket handling, report creation, data sharing and regular tasks across Team 1.
- Own SLA review and escalation handling for the SAP team.
- Oversee role management, system changes, FI development and PMO activity across Team 2.




- Review development progress on a regular cycle and act as reviewer for recent initiatives.
- Own HANA leadership - migration planning, readiness and sequencing for SAP ECC.
- Review SAP licences and user roles, and maintain appropriate access governance.
- Identify and deliver automation opportunities to reduce manual and recurring effort.
- Lead a blended team of on-role and partner-supplied resources, including managing the partner relationship and continuity of knowledge.

Essential requirements :

- 6 to 8 years of SAP experience covering both FI and ABAP.
- SAP expert with hands-on experience of SAP ECC across FI and development.
- Past experience managing an SAP team, including allocation of work and performance oversight.
- Experience of ECC to HANA migration.
- Experience owning ticket service levels and driving down recurring issues.

Preferred :

- Experience managing partner-supplied or vendor development resources.
- Experience of automation delivery within an SAP environment.
- Exposure to SAP licence and authorisation governance.
- Experience working alongside a separate procure-to-pay platform team.
