Safety Surveillance and Monitoring

- Conduct regular plant safety inspections and patrols during all shifts.
- Identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and unsafe behaviors and initiate corrective actions.
- Monitor production, maintenance, utility, warehouse, and contractor activities for safety compliance.
- Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained throughout the plant.
- Verify compliance with SOPs, work instructions, and safety procedures.

Permit to Work (PTW) Management

- Review, issue, monitor, and close permits for:

- Hot Work

- Confined Space Entry

- Work at Height

- Electrical Isolation

- Excavation

- Line Breaking

- Maintenance Activities
- Verify implementation of required control measures before commencement of work.
- Ensure permits are properly authorized and displayed at the work location

Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment

- Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA).
- Participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA).
- Identify operational risks and recommend mitigation measures.
- Monitor implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

Contractor Safety Management

- Verify contractor safety documents before work commencement.
- Ensure contractor employees use appropriate PPE.
- Conduct contractor safety inductions and toolbox talks.
- Monitor contractor compliance with PTW and site safety requirements.
- Report and correct safety violations immediately.

Chemical Safety Management

- Ensure protected handling, storage, transfer, and disposal of hazardous chemicals.




- Verify availability and accessibility of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Monitor chemical labeling and segregation requirements.
- Inspect chemical storage areas, tank farms, warehouses, and process areas.
- Ensure compliance with chemical compatibility and storage standards.

Incident Investigation and Reporting

- Investigate accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences, and near-miss events.
- Conduct root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare detailed incident investigation reports.
- Track closure of corrective and preventive actions.

Emergency Preparedness and Response

- Participate in onsite emergency planning and implementation.
- Act as Emergency Response Team member during emergencies.
- Conduct mock drills for fire, chemical spill, gas leak, and other emergency scenarios.
- Verify readiness of emergency equipment and response systems.
- Coordinate emergency evacuation activities when required.

. Fire and Life Safety Management

- Inspect firefighting systems and equipment.
- Ensure availability and functionality of:

- Fire Extinguishers

- Hydrant Systems

- Sprinklers

- Fire Alarms

- Emergency Lighting
- Conduct periodic fire safety inspections and awareness programs.

PPE Compliance Monitoring





- Ensure employees and contractors wear required PPE.
- Conduct PPE compliance audits.
- Recommend suitable PPE based on risk assessments.
- Monitor PPE availability and usage effectiveness.

Training and Safety Awareness

- Conduct safety induction programs for employees and contractors.
- Organize toolbox talks and shift-wise safety briefings.
- Conduct training on PTW, emergency response, chemical safety, fire safety, and PPE.
- Promote safety awareness campaigns and behavior-based safety initiatives.

. Statutory and Regulatory Compliance

- Ensure compliance with applicable provisions of the Factories Act, 1948, State Factories Rules, environmental regulations, and other statutory requirements.
- Assist during inspections by government authorities.
- Maintain statutory records, registers, and reports.
- Support compliance audits and regulatory submissions.

Safety Documentation and Reporting

- Maintain records of:

- Safety Inspections

- PTW Registers

- Incident Reports
- Near-Miss Reports

- Training Records

- Contractor Safety Records

- Mock Drill Reports
- Submit daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports to management.

Shift-Specific Responsibilities

- Ensure safe startup, shutdown, and maintenance activities during respective shifts.
- Conduct shift handover regarding critical safety observations.
- Monitor high-risk activities during night shifts and holidays.
- Provide immediate response to emergencies and incidents occurring during assigned shifts.
