Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain the organization's EHS and occupational safety systems in accordance with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Factories Act / Rules, fire safety requirements, hazardous chemical regulations, and other EHS legislation.
- Conduct regular plant safety inspections, risk assessments, and hazard identification and recommend corrective/preventive actions.
- Prepare and review Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Risk Assessments, SOPs, Work Permits, and safety procedures.
- Monitor compliance with PPE, work permits, LOTO, confined space, work at height, hot work, electrical safety, and other critical safety controls.
- Coordinate fire prevention and emergency preparedness activities, including mock drills and emergency response exercises.
- Investigate accidents, near misses, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions, identify root causes, and implement CAPA.
- Conduct regular safety training, toolbox talks, induction programs, and awareness sessions for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Monitor contractor safety and ensure compliance with established EHS requirements.
- Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Quality, HR, and other departments for effective implementation of safety initiatives.
- Conduct periodic EHS audits and inspections and track closure of observations.
- Maintain safety-related documentation, records, registers, reports, and statutory compliance documents.
- Monitor workplace safety parameters and support occupational health and industrial hygiene initiatives.
- Support the preparation and review of Emergency Response Plans, Disaster Management Plans, and Business Continuity-related safety measures.
- Ensure proper investigation and reporting of incidents and maintain safety KPIs and MIS.
- Drive safety improvement projects and behavioral safety initiatives across the plant.
- Support regulatory inspections and coordinate with external agencies / authorities as required.
- Promote a proactive zero-incident / safety-first culture throughout the organization.
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of industrial safety and EHS practices.
- Practical experience in pharmaceutical / chemical manufacturing safety will be highly preferred.
- Good understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment, incident investigation, and CAPA.
- Knowledge of fire safety, emergency response, chemical handling, PPE, work at height, and permit-to-work systems.
- Valuable understanding of applicable Indian statutory EHS requirements.
- Strong communication, coordination, and training skills.
- Ability to conduct safety audits and prepare professional EHS reports and documentation.
- Proficiency in MS Office / Excel / PowerPoint.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and shop-floor personnel.
