Job Purpose
- Develop, upgrade, and deploy Canvas LMS instances to meet the needs of our educational institutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, academic staff, and external vendors to ensure seamless integration and functionality of Canvas LMS.
- Customize and extend Canvas LMS features to enhance the user experience for admissions students and faculty.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to Canvas LMS.
- Maintain and update documentation related to Canvas LMS configurations, customizations, and integrations.
- Provide training and support to end-users on Canvas LMS functionalities and best practices.
- Stay updated with the latest developments and updates in Canvas LMS and related technologies.
Desired Profile
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in the development, upgrade, and deployment of Canvas LMS.
- Experience in higher education or a related domain is preferred
Skills
- Strong knowledge of Canvas LMS architecture, APIs, and integration capabilities with Student Management System (SMS)
- Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, and Ruby.
- Experience with AWS cloud platform.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Robust communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desired Experience
- Exposure to other Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Moodle or Blackboard.
- Certification in Canvas LMS or related technologies.
Key Accountability - Actions Front-End Development
- Design and develop responsive, user-friendly interfaces using technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and front-end frameworks (React).
- Ensure cross-browser compatibility and optimize the application for performance and scalability.
Back-End Development
- Build server-side logic and database architecture using technologies like Ruby, Python and JavaScript
- Design APIs (RESTful, GraphQL) and integrate them with front-end applications.
- Implement security measures such as authentication, authorization, and data protection.
Database Management
- Design, maintain, and optimize relational and NoSQL databases.
- Write efficient queries, optimize database performance, and ensure data integrity and security.
Code Quality and Best Practices
- Write clean, modular, and well-documented code that adheres to coding standards and best practices.
- Conduct regular code reviews and refactor code to maintain performance and scalability.
- Ensure adherence to version control systems and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams
- Work closely with designers,
product managers, and other developers to understand project requirements and translate them into technical implementations.
- Collaborate effectively with DevOps, QA, and other teams to ensure smooth deployment, testing, and delivery of the product.
Testing and Debugging
- Implement unit, integration, and end-to-end tests to ensure software functionality and stability.
- Identify and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, bugs, and security vulnerabilities in both front-end and back-end systems.
- Debug issues across the entire stack, including the server, database, and front-end.
Deployment and Maintenance
- Ensure successful deployment of applications, including setting up servers, cloud infrastructure (AWS), and databases.
- Monitor, maintain, and update applications post-deployment to ensure optimal performance and address security vulnerabilities.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines for automated deployment, testing, and rollback capabilities.
Performance Optimization
- Ensure optimal performance of web applications by identifying and resolving bottlenecks in both client-side and server-side code.
- Implement caching mechanisms, lazy loading, and code splitting for front-end optimization.
- Improve database query efficiency and optimize back-end processes for scalability.
Security and Compliance
- Implement security best practices for both front-end and back-end development, including encryption, secure authentication, and authorization protocols (OAuth, JWT).
- Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR) and industry standards.
- Proactively monitor and address security vulnerabilities and apply security patches as needed.
