: Resident Medical Officer (Psychiatric Rehabilitation & De-Addiction Centre)

Position Overview

- Role Title: Residential Medical Officer
- Department: Medical Services
- Reports To: Consultant Psychiatrist / Medical Director / Head of Clinical Services
- Employment Type: Full-time

Key Responsibilities 1. Clinical Care, Safety & Suicide Prevention

- Admission Assessments & Risk Screening: Conduct initial medical evaluations and thorough risk screenings for newly admitted residents entering psychiatric rehabilitation and de-addiction programs.
- Suicide Risk Mitigation: Continuously assess, monitor, and manage suicide risks, implementing strict safety precautions, environmental checks, and immediate intervention protocols for vulnerable residents.
- Regular Frisking & Contraband Control: Oversee and coordinate regular frisking procedures and personal/ward checks to ensure no prohibited items, sharp objects, substances, or potential self-harm hazards enter the residential spaces.
- Routine Ward Rounds & Activity Sessions: Monitor residents' daily clinical status and vital signs, and actively visit and supervise ongoing therapeutic and rehabilitation activity sessions to observe resident engagement and mental state.
- Withdrawal & Detoxification Management: Closely monitor and manage alcohol, and substance withdrawal symptoms under the guidance of the Consultant Psychiatrist, executing established protocols and emergency interventions.
- Psychiatric Emergency Response: Handle acute behavioral emergencies, agitation, aggressive episodes, or medical crises using de-escalation techniques, appropriate PRN medications, and immediate stabilization procedures.

2. Treatment Plan Execution, Holistic Activities & Medication Management

- Daily Yoga & Mindfulness Conduction: Oversee, guide, and conduct daily yoga and mindfulness sessions for residents to support physical rehabilitation, stress reduction, emotional regulation,



and overall therapeutic recovery.
- Medication Administration & Oversight: Ensure absolute accuracy in dispensing medications to patients at the correct times and in the precise dosages prescribed, monitoring closely for adverse drug reactions and side effects.
- Dietary Regulation: Oversee and regulate resident diets strictly based on the Consultant Psychiatrist’s clinical opinion and nutritional guidelines (e.g., managing metabolic side effects of psychotropic medications or specific de-addiction dietary needs).
- Multidisciplinary Coordination: Collaborate closely with psychologists, psychiatric social workers, physiotherapists, and nursing staff to support holistic, recovery-oriented care plans.

3. Nursing Leadership, Handover & Training

- Handover Validation: Thoroughly check and validate nursing handovers across shift changes to ensure continuity of care, accurate observation logs, and seamless communication of critical patient updates.
- Nursing Training & Capacity Building: Conduct regular training sessions for nursing staff on clinical protocols, suicide watch procedures, emergency responses, mental health care standards, and de-escalation techniques.
- Nursing Orientation: Provide structured clinical orientation and mentorship to all newly joined nurses, ensuring familiarity with ward routines, patient safety standards, and facility protocols.

4. Physician Collaboration & Multi-Stakeholder Communication

- Physician & Specialist Visit Assistance: Assist visiting physicians and Consultant Psychiatrists during rounds,



document clinical recommendations meticulously, and execute updated care plans.
- Comprehensive Stakeholder Updates: Proactively update care team members, psychiatrists, facility management, and resident families regarding clinical progress, medical milestones, and significant health updates.

5. Documentation & Regulatory Compliance

- Medical Record Keeping: Maintain meticulous, up-to-date case notes, daily progress reports, and medication charts in compliance with institutional guidelines and statutory mental health frameworks.
- Incident Reporting: Document and report any critical incidents, self-harm risks, elopement attempts, or sudden physical deterioration immediately to the Medical Director and facility management.

Key Competencies

- Robust foundation in suicide risk assessment, crisis intervention, substance withdrawal management, and medical comorbidities in psychiatric populations.
- Proficiency in integrating holistic wellness practices (such as yoga and mindfulness) into psychiatric rehabilitation.
- Excellent leadership, nursing supervision, clinical decision-making, and communication skills.
- High level of vigilance, empathy, patience, and commitment to maintaining a safe therapeutic environment for vulnerable populations.

Working Conditions

- Environment: Residential psychiatric rehabilitation and de-addiction facility.
- Schedule: Shift-based duties (including rotational day/night shifts or on-call responsibilities as required by facility operations).
- This job requires flexibility at work which may be subjective to the need of the institution.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
