Regional Head South , Mobilization & Skills at Arvind Foundation

Arvind Limited through its foundation (Arvind Foundation) is implementing programs on Women Empowerment. As part of this program, employment linked skill development and education is a major one; where-in girls and women from under-privileged community are mobilized, provided with skill training and are provided with education opportunities for their further growth. Skill training is aligned with industry requirement specifically with the apparel industry.

The foundation has established a dedicated Mobilization and Skills Development Vertical. The objective of this vertical is to empower women with industry aligned skill and help them to further grow through education and vocational capability enhancement. Vertical work would encompass community outreach and awareness, mobilization, skill training, assessment, placement, and retention support.

The vertical will work closely with the apparel industry, government and non-government skill development initiatives, educational institutions, Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), vocational training partners, and community organizations.

To support this strategic initiative, the foundation is creating a specialized team comprising professionals in mobilization, skill training operations (primarily SMOs- Sewing Machine Operators), industry and government partnerships, placement coordination, workforce planning, and skill development management.



The following Job Descriptions define the roles and responsibilities required to establish and scale this function across the organization.

Dodballapur, Bangalore

Handlig - South Region Telangana, AP, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu & East Maharashtra

Key Role

Mobilization

- Lead all mobilization activities in the states for:
- Direct placement of trained women/girls in companys factories. Sourcing would be done from all possible skill training agencies (govt, non-govt.) and vocational training providers
- Companys Skill Academies and Centers at home state/district – sourcing of girl and women candidates from various sources such as Educational Institutions, Women Collectives, Villages, Youth Group, Villages, Vocational Training Institutes, Coaching Centers etc. for:
- Hire and build a team of Mobilizers at District/block level. Guide and facilitate their work and oversee their day-to-day operations
- Work closely with plant officials; and ensure time-bound supply of mobilized women/girl candidates; their counselling, screening and enrollment in the skill training program (majorly Sewing Machine Operators – SMO)
- Build and leverage relationship with all required stakeholders:

External Stakeholders:
- Relevant govt. entities into skill development on Apparel and Textile (Samarth, PMKVY, DDUGKY, RSETI)
- Institutions working with women groups – Livelihood Mission, Women Collectives
- Education & Vocational Institutions

Internal Stakeholders within the company – Plant officials, Marcom Team, HR, Corporate Affairs Skills & Employability

- Lead all skill development activities in the region. Facilitate setting-up skill centers on Apparel (majorly)



and Textile as per respective Skilling Programs/Schemes – Govt., CSR and as per the industry standards.
- Mobilize funding from eligible govt. schemes for setting-up Skills Center
- Hire and build entire team of the Skill Development vertical. Guide and facilitate their work and oversee their day-to-day operations
- Ensure quality across all Skills Centers w.r.t to trainers, curriculum, infra (lab and facilities) etc. Well versed with Quality Standards
- Manage end to end skilling programs: Mobilization->Screening & Enrollment->Training->Assessment & Certification->Facilitate On-boarding
- Manage all operations – setting up skill centers, team deployment & on-boarding, ensure quality & timely execution, coordination with internal & external stakeholders
- Guide and facilitate work of the Centre Managers, Coordinators, Trainers, Mobilizers
- Coordinate and work closely with the respective mobilization state level team members for time-bound mobilization of women candidates, their counselling, screening and enrollment.
- Build and leverage relationship with all required stakeholders:
- External Stakeholders – Relevant govt. entities into skill development on Apparel and Textile (Samarth, PMKVY, DDUGKY, RSETI), CSR, NGO Partners, Assessment Agencies
- Internal Stakeholders within the company
- All required monitoring, reporting, documentation

Essential Experience

- Development Projects in large scale. Mandatory experience of running skill training on job role related to Apparel
- Must have built and led a team of skill development professional
- In-depth understanding of skill development eco-system esp. of the government skilling eco-system
- Robust network and professional relationship with various stakeholders in the skilling eco-system: NSDC, ADTC, MoRD skill development schemes – DDUGKY, RSETI

Language Kannada – Reading, Speaking mandatory. Speaking and understanding capability of other regional languages – Tamil, Telgu will be an added advantage.
