Job Summary
We are looking for a responsible and detail-oriented Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) with 1–3 years of relevant experience to oversee radiation safety practices and ensure compliance with applicable radiation protection standards and regulatory requirements.
The RSO will be responsible for monitoring radiation exposure, maintaining safety records, implementing radiation protection procedures, conducting inspections and training, and ensuring the safe handling and use of radiation-emitting equipment/materials.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor the organization's Radiation Safety Program.
- Ensure compliance with applicable AERB regulations, guidelines, and radiation safety requirements.
- Monitor occupational radiation exposure of employees and maintain appropriate exposure records.
- Coordinate the issuance, usage, monitoring, and periodic processing/replacement of TLD badges.
- Conduct routine radiation safety inspections, surveys, and workplace assessments.
- Monitor radiation levels and identify potential radiation safety hazards.
- Ensure appropriate radiation warning signs, labels, barriers, and safety procedures are maintained.
- Maintain records relating to radiation monitoring, equipment, personnel exposure, inspections, training, and regulatory compliance.
- Assist with regulatory documentation, audits, inspections, renewals, and compliance reporting.
- Conduct radiation safety induction and periodic training for employees.
- Investigate abnormal exposure readings,
radiation incidents, or deviations from established safety procedures.
- Ensure radiation-emitting equipment and/or radioactive materials are handled, stored, operated, and disposed of according to applicable procedures and regulations.
- Work closely with operations, EHS, quality, maintenance, and management teams to maintain a robust radiation safety culture.
Qualifications: Relevant Bachelor's/Master's degree, diploma, or recognized qualification in Physics, Medical Physics, Radiation Physics, Nuclear Science, Radiation Safety, or a related field.
Experience & Skills:
- 1–3 years of hands-on experience in radiation safety, radiation monitoring, or a related role.
- Knowledge of radiation protection principles, including ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable).
- Understanding of radiation monitoring equipment, personal dosimetry, and radiation safety procedures.
- Familiarity with applicable AERB guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Good documentation, reporting, and record-management skills.
- Ability to conduct radiation safety training and communicate safety requirements effectively.
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Mandatory Requirement: TLD Badge is mandatory for this position. Candidates should have relevant experience working with TLD-based personnel radiation monitoring and understand TLD badge usage, handling, monitoring, and exposure reporting requirements.
