Role & responsibilities
- Conduct incoming, in-process, and final inspection to ensure product quality compliance.
- Ensure adherence to IATF 16949, customer-specific requirements, and quality standards.
- Monitor daily quality performance and drive reduction in rejection, rework, and customer complaints.
- Perform root cause analysis using 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Support APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and Control Plan activities for new and existing products.
- Conduct process audits, layered process audits (LPA), and internal quality audits.
- Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, and NPD teams to resolve quality issues.
- Ensure calibration and proper use of measuring instruments and gauges.
- Verify products as per engineering drawings, GD&T;, and customer specifications.
- Prepare and maintain quality documentation, inspection reports, and quality records.
- Analyze quality data and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports.
- Participate in customer audits and support timely closure of audit observations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives through Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, and Lean Manufacturing.
- Train shop floor operators on quality standards, inspection methods, and defect prevention.
- Ensure compliance with safety, 5S, and company quality procedures.
Preferred candidate profile
- Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Automobile, or Industrial Engineering.
- 36 years of experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control in an automotive manufacturing industry.
- Experience in sheet metal components, tube bending, welding, and fabrication processes will be preferred.
- Positive knowledge of IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, Control Plans, and 8D problem-solving.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, GD&T;, and customer specifications.
- Hands-on experience with measuring instruments such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Bore Gauge, Dial Gauge, Surface Plate, and CMM.
- Experience in handling customer complaints, process improvements, and internal audits.
- Proficient in MS Office and preparation of quality reports.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Experience working with automotive OEM/Tier-1 customers
