Quality Assurance Manager – Aerospace & Defence

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Quality Assurance Manager to lead quality across our growing aerospace and defence manufacturing activities.

The ideal candidate will have strong practical experience in the inspection and approval of precision CNC-machined components and aerospace-grade composites, along with working exposure to DGAQA, CEMILAC, JSS 55555 and applicable MIL-STDs.

This is a shop-floor-oriented role, not primarily a documentation or certification position.

Key Responsibilities

Precision Machining & Metrology

- Own incoming, in-process and final inspection of precision machined components and assemblies.
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T;, tolerances and surface-finish requirements.
- Develop inspection plans and acceptance criteria.
- Review material certificates, heat-treatment, coating/plating and special-process records.
- Manage First Article Inspection, NCRs, deviations and CAPA.
- Ensure complete material and component traceability.
- Strong practical familiarity with CMM, dimensional metrology and calibration systems is required.

Aerospace Composites

- Establish inspection and QA processes for composite components and structures.
- Ensure material traceability, storage/shelf-life control and adherence to approved lay-up, curing and bonding processes.
- Establish acceptance criteria for dimensional and manufacturing defects.
- Coordinate NDT/NDI and review inspection results.
- Experience with aircraft structures, UAV components, rotorcraft components or rotor blades is particularly relevant.





DGAQA / CEMILAC / Defence Qualification

- Interface with DGAQA, CEMILAC and customer QA representatives during development, qualification and production.
- Prepare/review Quality Plans, inspection plans, ATPs and qualification documentation.
- Support prototype, First Article, qualification and production acceptance.
- Coordinate closure of observations and NCRs arising from customer/regulatory inspections.
- Maintain configuration, manufacturing and inspection records required for certification and acceptance.

Candidates who have personally taken aerospace/defence hardware through DGAQA inspection or CEMILAC certification will be strongly preferred.

MIL-STD / JSS 55555

- Interpret applicable MIL-STD, JSS 55555 and customer-specific qualification requirements.
- Translate requirements into Qualification Test Plans, ATPs and acceptance criteria.
- Coordinate environmental qualification including applicable temperature, humidity, vibration, shock, corrosion/salt-fog, ingress and transportation/storage tests.
- Maintain traceability between requirements, tests, results and compliance evidence.

Quality Systems & Supplier Quality

- Establish and maintain aerospace-grade QMS processes aligned with AS9100 / ISO 9001.
- Implement configuration control, traceability and calibration systems.
- Qualify and audit machining,



composite and special-process suppliers.
- Drive supplier NCRs, root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Support transition from prototype → qualification → low-rate production → series manufacture.

Candidate Profile

Essential

- BE/BTech/Diploma in Mechanical, Production, Aerospace, Manufacturing or related discipline.
- 8–15 years in aerospace, defence or high-precision manufacturing quality.
- Robust experience inspecting and approving precision CNC-machined components.
- Experience with aerospace-grade composites.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T;, CMM and dimensional metrology.
- Experience with FAI, NCR, CAPA, supplier quality and traceability.

Strongly Preferred

- Direct DGAQA and/or CEMILAC exposure.
- Practical exposure to JSS 55555 and applicable MIL-STDs.
- AS9100 and AS9102 / First Article Inspection experience.
- Experience preparing Quality Plans, ATPs and Qualification Test Plans.
- Experience taking aerospace/defence products through qualification, certification/customer acceptance and production.

What We Are Looking For

We want someone who can walk onto the shop floor, read the drawing, inspect the component, understand the manufacturing process and make a technically defensible acceptance/rejection decision.

At the same time, they should understand the complete aerospace quality environment—configuration control, traceability, DGAQA/CEMILAC interaction, qualification testing and JSS/MIL-STD compliance.

The objective is to build a quality function capable of taking complex aerospace and defence products from prototype to qualified, traceable and repeatable series production.
