Job Purpose
We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Head – Quality / QC Head to lead the complete Quality function across incoming, in-process and final inspection.
The person will be responsible for establishing and maintaining robust quality systems, ensuring dimensional and process compliance of precision-machined components, reducing rejection and rework, handling customer quality requirements and leading the Quality team.
Key Responsibilities1. Quality Function Leadership
- Lead and manage the complete Quality Assurance & Quality Control function.
- Develop, implement and maintain quality standards, procedures and inspection systems.
- Establish quality objectives, KPIs and improvement plans.
- Monitor and improve Rejection, Rework, PPM, Customer Complaints and First Pass Yield.
- Ensure effective coordination between Quality, Production, Design, Planning, Purchase and Stores.
1. In-Process & Final Inspection
- Ensure effective Incoming, In-Process and Final Inspection systems.
- Review drawings, specifications, tolerances and customer requirements before inspection.
- Ensure inspection of CNC/VMC machined components, fabricated parts, assemblies, fixtures and precision components.
- Ensure proper use and calibration of inspection instruments.
- Ensure traceability of raw materials, components and finished products.
1. Metrology & Inspection
- Lead inspection activities involving Vernier, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Bore Gauge, Dial Gauge, Profile Projector, CMM and other precision measuring instruments, as applicable.
- Establish inspection plans and acceptance criteria.
- Ensure calibration and preventive maintenance of all measuring and testing equipment.
- Review inspection reports and ensure proper documentation.
1. Quality Systems & ISO
- Drive implementation and continual improvement of the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System.
- Conduct and support Internal Audits,
Process Audits and Product Audits.
- Ensure closure of audit observations and corrective/preventive actions.
- Maintain quality procedures, work instructions, formats and records.
- Promote a strong quality culture throughout the organization.
1. Customer Quality
- Handle customer complaints, quality issues and corrective actions.
- Coordinate with customers during quality inspections, audits and technical discussions.
- Prepare and review 8D, RCA, CAPA and corrective action reports.
- Ensure timely response and closure of customer complaints.
- Understand and implement customer-specific quality requirements.
1. Supplier Quality
- Work closely with Purchase and suppliers to ensure incoming material quality.
- Support supplier evaluation, development and quality improvement.
- Monitor supplier rejection and performance.
- Implement corrective actions for recurring supplier quality issues.
1. Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
- Drive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for internal and customer quality issues.
- Implement CAPA, 5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto and other quality improvement tools.
- Reduce rejection, rework, scrap and customer complaints.
- Identify process improvement opportunities in machining, fabrication and assembly.
- Promote preventive quality rather than only detection-based quality control.
1. Team Handling & Development
- Lead, mentor and develop the Quality team.
- Allocate inspection responsibilities and monitor team performance.
- Conduct regular training on drawings, inspection methods, measuring instruments and quality procedures.
- Build a technically strong and accountable Quality team.
- Ensure discipline and adherence to inspection procedures.
1. New Product / New Project Quality
- Participate in new product development and project kick-off activities.
- Review drawings, specifications and quality requirements.
- Develop Quality Plans, Inspection Plans, Process Control Plans and check sheets.
- Coordinate with Design and Production teams to ensure manufacturability and quality compliance.
- Support customer approval and first-off/FAI requirements wherever applicable.
Required Technical Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of Precision Machining / CNC / VMC / Turning / Milling processes.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T;, tolerances and surface finish.
- Knowledge of inspection methodology and metrology.
- Experience in handling quality issues related to machining, fabrication and assembly.
- Knowledge of RCA, CAPA, 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto and continuous improvement tools.
- Good knowledge of ISO 9001:2015.
- Knowledge of customer and industry-specific quality requirements.
- Exposure to automotive, railway, aerospace or other precision engineering industries will be preferred.
- Experience with FAI, PPAP/APQP and customer audits will be an added advantage.
Educational Qualification
- B.E./B.Tech – Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering preferred.
- Diploma in Mechanical/Production Engineering may be considered for candidates with strong relevant experience.
- Additional qualification in Quality Management will be an advantage.
Experience
- 12–18+ years of relevant experience in Quality/QC in a precision manufacturing, CNC machining, automotive, railway, aerospace or engineering industry.
- Minimum 5+ years in a Quality leadership / managerial role.
- Candidates with experience managing a complete Quality function and a team will be preferred.

Candidate Profile We are looking for a hands-on Quality leader who can independently manage the Quality function, lead the QC team, understand technical drawings and machining processes, interact confidently with customers and drive measurable improvements in quality performance.
Strong team-handling, problem-solving, decision-making and communication skills are essential.
Aerospace / Automotive / Railway industry experience will be highly preferred.
