Role Summary
· We are looking for a QA Engineer to drive quality across our platforms by leading automation initiatives while maintaining strong manual and exploratory testing practices.
· This role requires an automation-first mindset balanced with sharp manual testing instincts, a deep understanding of modern testing strategies, and the ability to take end-to-end ownership of quality across complex distributed systems.
Key Responsibilities
Automation
· Design, build, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks (UI, API, integration, performance)
· Drive automation strategy and coverage, optimising the balance between automated and manual testing
· Ensure strong CI/CD integration for automated testing pipelines
· Contribute to performance, reliability, and regression testing strategies
Manual & Exploratory Testing
· Design, document, and maintain test plans, test cases, and test scenarios with explicit traceability to requirements
· Perform exploratory, functional, and regression testing on new features and releases
· Apply risk-based testing to prioritise coverage where automation is impractical or not yet in place
· Conduct negative, boundary, and edge-case testing to uncover defects automated suites would miss
· Execute smoke and sanity testing on releases, and carry out post-deployment production validation
· Perform cross-browser and cross-device testing where applicable
· Support and coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with product and business stakeholders
· Create and manage test data for complex end-to-end scenarios
Shared Ownership
· Take end-to-end ownership of quality across features from requirements to production validation
· Review requirements and user stories early, challenging ambiguity and helping define clear acceptance criteria
· Collaborate with engineering, product, and QA teams to define test strategies
· Perform API testing and validation across distributed microservices
· Identify, reproduce, debug, and track defects with clear root cause analysis, and manage the defect lifecycle through to closure
· Promote best practices in test design, maintainability, and reusability
· Contribute to building a high-performing QA culture
Required Skills & Experience
· 3+ years of experience in QA with strong hands-on expertise across both automation and manual testing
· Proven experience in automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, RestSharp, NUnit, or similar)
· Strong experience in automation scripting
· Strong grounding in manual testing fundamentals — test case design techniques (boundary value analysis, equivalence partitioning, decision tables), exploratory testing, and defect reporting
· Hands-on experience with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira, TestRail, Zephyr,
Xray, Azure Test Plans)
· Hands-on experience in performance testing using tools such as JMeter, Gatling, or k6
· Strong experience in API testing (REST, JSON, tools like Postman, Swagger)
· Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI)
· Solid understanding of test design, test strategies, and quality engineering principles
· Experience working with distributed systems / microservices architectures
· Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills
· Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to articulate defects and quality risks to non-technical stakeholders
Observability & Quality Engineering
· Experience with logs, monitoring, and debugging tools (e.g., ELK, Grafana, Azure Monitor)
· Ability to validate issues using production telemetry and logs
· Understanding of shift-left testing and quality metrics (defect leakage, test coverage, escape rate)
Nice to Have
· Experience with Kubernetes / containerized environments (AKS/GKE)
· Exposure to event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, Service Bus, Event Hubs)
· Experience in high-traffic, real-time systems
· Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
· Domain experience in payments, fintech, or travel/hospitality platforms
· Experience testing third-party integrations and end-to-end transaction flows
Agile & Ways of Working
· Strong experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
· Active participation in sprint planning, stand-ups, grooming, and retrospectives
· Ability to define and execute test plans within fast-paced delivery cycles
· Close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality releases
· Comfortable acting as the quality gate for a release, making go/no-go recommendations based on test outcomes and risk
