Role & responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate, and develop vendors for raw materials, fabricated items, castings, forgings, machined parts, and bought-out equipment.
- Float enquiries, prepare comparative statements, and negotiate prices, delivery terms, and payment conditions.
- Finalize purchase orders according to technical specifications, drawings, and project requirements.
- Work closely with Engineering, QA/QC, and Production teams to understand material specifications and project schedules.
- Ensure purchased materials comply with applicable codes and standards (ASME, IS, ASTM, DIN, etc.).
- Coordinate with inspection agencies and vendors forstage and final inspections.

- Maintain approved vendor list and evaluate vendor performance on cost, quality, and delivery. Resolve vendor-related issues including delays, quality deviations, and shortages.
- Develop alternate vendors to reduce dependency and risk.
- Achieve cost reduction through value engineering, alternate sourcing, and negotiations.
Ensure procurement is within approved budgets and project cost targets.
- Monitor market trends for steel, alloys, and critical engineering materials. Track material delivery schedules and ensure timely availability at site/factory.
- Coordinate with stores and logistics for material receipt and inventory control.
- Maintain purchase records, MIS reports, and documentation according to ISO procedures. Follow company procurement policies and statutory requirements.
- Ensure proper documentation for audits and internal controls. Use SAP systems for procurement activities.

Preferred candidate profile
- 3 to 8 years of experience in procurement for heavy engineering / fabrication / EPC / boiler / pressure vessel industry.
- Strong knowledge of engineering materials (carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, plates, pipes, valves, fittings, etc.)
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and BOMs.
- Negotiation and vendor managementskills.
- Familiarity with codes and standards used in heavy engineering
- Proficiency in MS Excel and SAP systems Robust coordination and communication skills
