Job Purpose
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager – Retail to take end-to-end ownership of new retail store openings, renovations, relocations, expansions, and maintenance of existing stores.
The role will be responsible for planning, execution, vendor management, cost control, quality, and timely completion of projects. The candidate will coordinate with contractors, vendors, architects, landlords, brands, internal departments, and store teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and as per company and brand standards.
The ideal candidate should be a hands-on professional with strong site execution, project management, vendor coordination, and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to manage multiple projects across different locations.
Key Responsibilities
1. New Store Opening & Project Execution
- Manage the end-to-end execution of new retail store projects from site handover to store opening.
- Coordinate civil work, interiors, electrical, HVAC, lighting, flooring, fixtures, signage, branding, and other project requirements.
- Prepare detailed project plans, timelines, milestones, and execution schedules.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, architects, landlords, consultants, and internal teams.
- Conduct regular site visits and monitor day-to-day project progress.
- Identify project risks, delays, and execution issues and take corrective action.
- Ensure all project activities are completed as per the planned store opening date.
- Ensure execution is aligned with approved layouts, specifications, company standards, and applicable brand guidelines.
1. Existing Store Maintenance
- Manage maintenance and repair requirements across existing retail stores.
- Coordinate civil, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, signage, fixtures, and general building maintenance.
- Ensure breakdowns and maintenance issues are resolved within defined timelines.
- Develop and monitor preventive maintenance schedules.
- Coordinate with service providers and vendors for emergency repairs and breakdowns.
- Monitor recurring maintenance issues and implement corrective measures.
- Maintain proper records of maintenance requests, completed work, pending issues, and vendor activities.
1. Renovation, Relocation & Store Improvement
- Manage renovation, refurbishment, relocation, expansion, and store improvement projects.
- Coordinate project execution as per approved designs, layouts, specifications, and brand requirements.
- Plan work schedules to ensure minimum disruption to ongoing store operations.
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks.
- Monitor project progress against approved timelines and identify deviations.
- Ensure proper completion and handover of renovated or upgraded stores.
1. Vendor & Contractor Management
- Identify, evaluate, and coordinate with contractors, vendors, and service providers.
- Obtain quotations and coordinate comparative evaluations as required.
- Monitor vendor performance in terms of quality, cost, timelines, and workmanship.
- Negotiate with vendors wherever required to achieve competitive pricing and project efficiency.
- Ensure contractors follow company policies, safety requirements, and site guidelines.
- Verify completed work and ensure all agreed deliverables are fulfilled before recommending payments.
- Develop and maintain a reliable vendor network across project locations.
1. Budget & Cost Control
- Prepare project cost estimates and assist in preparing project budgets.
- Track project expenses against approved budgets.
- Monitor quotations, work orders, purchase orders, bills, and project-related expenses.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization and savings without compromising quality.
- Escalate potential cost overruns to management at an early stage.
- Ensure proper documentation and control of all project-related costs.
1. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with Retail Operations, Finance, HR, IT, Visual Merchandising, Procurement, Security, and Store Teams.
- Coordinate with brands and other stakeholders for project-related requirements.
- Provide regular project updates, progress reports, and issue escalations to management.
- Ensure all stakeholders are aligned on project scope, timelines, responsibilities, and deliverables.
- Coordinate with landlords and mall management wherever required.
1. Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure project execution meets approved quality standards and specifications.
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks.
- Ensure contractors and vendors follow applicable safety standards and company policies.
- Monitor site safety during construction, renovation, and maintenance activities.
- Identify and rectify quality issues and execution defects.
- Ensure proper documentation of approvals, inspections, warranties, and project records.
1. Project Closure & Handover
- Conduct final project inspections before store opening or handover.
- Prepare and monitor snag lists and ensure all pending work is closed.
- Coordinate final testing and commissioning of relevant systems and installations.
- Ensure proper handover of completed projects to the Retail Operations / Store Team.
- Maintain project documentation, approved drawings, warranties, certificates, vendor details,
and maintenance records.
- Ensure all project-related documentation is properly closed and archived.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Timely completion of new store projects as per approved opening dates.
- Projects completed within approved budgets.
- Quality and workmanship of construction, fit-out, renovation, and maintenance work.
- Timely closure of store maintenance and breakdown requests.
- Reduction in recurring maintenance issues.

Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree / Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Architecture, or a related field.
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in project management, retail fit-outs, commercial interiors, construction, or multi-location store operations.
- Strong experience in recent store openings, retail fit-outs, renovations, relocations, and maintenance.
- Good understanding of civil, electrical, HVAC, interiors, fixtures, signage, plumbing, and general building maintenance.
- Experience in managing contractors, vendors, consultants, and site teams.
- Strong understanding of project timelines, cost estimation, budgeting, and execution.
- Willingness to travel extensively to different store/project locations across North India.
