Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Production Manager to run day-to-day manufacturing operations across our paper converting and packaging lines — spoon paper wrapping, laminated cake base, silver (metalized) pouch production, and POS roll slitting. You will own production planning, line performance, quality, and manpower across these four product lines, ensuring on-time output, consistent quality, and safe, efficient plant operations while driving continuous improvement in yield, wastage, and cost.
Key Responsibilities (KRAs)
Plan, schedule and run daily production across spoon paper wrapping, laminated cake base, silver pouch, and POS roll slitting lines to meet order commitments and delivery timelines.
Build and lead shift-wise teams of machine operators, technicians, electricians and line supervisors for each product line; ensure adequate manning and cross-training across lines.
Manage machine-wise output and efficiency for wrapping machines, lamination plant, pouch-making machines and slitting/rewinding machines, including changeovers, downtime reduction and preventive maintenance.
Prepare and maintain SOPs,
work instructions and process parameters for each product line; ensure line-wise adherence and periodic audits.
Monitor and control key process parameters — lamination bond strength, wrapping seal integrity, pouch barrier/seal quality, slitting width tolerance and roll winding quality — to meet customer specifications.
Own quality outcomes in coordination with QA/QC — in-process checks, rejection/rework tracking, and root-cause corrective actions for each product line.
Plan raw material and packing material requirements (base paper, PE/BOPP/metalized films, adhesives, ink, cores) in line with the production plan; coordinate procurement and manage RM/PM inventory to avoid line stoppages.
Track yield, wastage, and rejection percentage line-wise; drive initiatives to reduce material loss and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
Work closely with machine suppliers and OEMs (domestic and international) for installation, commissioning, upgrades and troubleshooting of converting, lamination, pouch-making and slitting equipment.
Estimate production costs, prepare and manage the production budget, and report on key metrics — output, efficiency, wastage, cost per unit — to plant/senior management.
Enforce health, safety and housekeeping standards on the shop floor; ensure compliance with applicable food-contact packaging norms.
Drive continuous improvement (5S, Kaizen, lean manufacturing) to improve line efficiency, reduce changeover time and lower manufacturing cost.
Coordinate with planning, sales, dispatch and stores teams to align production output with demand and dispatch schedules.
Required Qualification, Skills & Competencies:
Proven experience as a Production/Plant Manager in paper converting, flexible packaging, or food packaging manufacturing — prior exposure to paper wrapping/lamination, pouch making, or slitting & rewinding operations is essential.
Hands-on knowledge of lamination machines, pouch/bag making machines, slitting-rewinding machines and paper wrapping/converting lines, including their process parameters and common troubleshooting.
Working knowledge of food-contact packaging requirements and certifications such as FSSAI, GMP, BRC/BRCGS, ISO 9001/22000, and HACCP.
Sound understanding of production planning, capacity utilization, manpower planning and shift management in a multi-product-line plant.
Experience with RM/PM planning and inventory control for paper, films, laminates and packaging consumables.
Strong grip on production metrics — OEE, yield, wastage %, cost per unit — with experience in MIS reporting and ERP systems.
Good understanding of quality standards, health & safety regulations, and budgeting/cost-control concepts.
Proficient in MS Office and ERP software; comfortable working with production dashboards and reports.
Strong leadership, team-building and shop-floor communication skills; results-driven with solid decision-making and problem-solving ability.
Post-graduation/MBA in Operations preferred; Undergraduate degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) or a related discipline.
