About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Designer to lead the Vaanam design team and create inspiring, functional bespoke interiors for our clients. You will personally lead design on our flagship and premium projects, and set the quality standard for everything the team delivers.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the design team — review and sign off on every client-facing deliverable, allocate projects and hold the quality bar.
- Own space planning, concept development, mood boards, 3D visualisation, material and finish selection, and detailed working drawings.
- Ensure design intent translates cleanly into production — work closely with the factory and project teams so BOMs, cutting lists and site execution match what was sold to the client.
- Build and maintain design standards and libraries — modules, hardware, finishes and templates — so the team delivers faster without losing quality.
- Coach and mentor junior designers through structured reviews, critique sessions and skill-building programs.
- Partner with sales and dealers on client pitches, walkthroughs and design presentations.
- Stay ahead of Indian and global trends in interior design, kitchen ergonomics and modular systems, and bring those references back into the work.
- Contribute to brand-building — showroom vignettes, catalog styling, sample projects and marketing shoots.

Must-Have Requirements
- 4+ years of interior design experience with strong depth in home interiors, modular kitchens and wardrobes.
- Formal qualification in Interior Design or Architecture from a recognised institute.
- Expert-level space planning — able to look at a floor plan and quickly identify the best layout,



circulation and storage strategy.
- Strong command of AutoCAD, SketchUp and a rendering engine (V-Ray, Enscape, Lumion or D5). Familiarity with modular design tools like PYTHA or Woodwop, or ERP-linked design tools, is a strong plus.
- Proven experience managing a design team — hiring, reviewing, project allocation and holding the team to a standard.
- Sharp material and finish sensibility across laminates, veneers, acrylics, PU, stone, fabrics and lighting.
- Working understanding of modular manufacturing constraints — module sizes, hardware limits, shutter sizes — so designs are buildable and cost-controlled.
- A portfolio that demonstrates range, taste and executed projects, not just concept work.
- Strong client-facing skills — comfortable presenting to homeowners, architects and dealers.

Good to Have

- Background in a modular manufacturer or a vertically integrated interior brand
- Comfort with cost and margin thinking — able to design within a target BOM cost per module or per sqft.
- Experience creating catalog, showroom or brand collateral.
- Interest in AI-assisted design tools and willingness to experiment with them for concept and visualisation work.
- English and Tamil at minimum. Additional languages are a bonus.

Preferred Background

Candidates from Livspace, HomeLane, Design Cafe, Sleek, Wurfel, Häcker, Bulthaup, Godrej Interio and IKEA design services will be preferred. Robust independent interior design practices with a solid residential and modular portfolio will also be considered.
