Product Design Engineer
Location: Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra
Department: Product Design / Engineering
Reporting To: Product Manager / Design Team
Experience: 2–5 Years

About the Role
We are looking for a Product Design Engineer responsible for developing, detailing, and standardizing product and solution designs across Fabtech India’s key business programs, including Furnisys, White Labelling (WL), and Contract Manufacturing (CM).
The role involves converting customer and business requirements into practical, manufacturable, functional, and scalable engineering solutions. The candidate will work closely with Product, Solutions, Manufacturing, Operations, and Manufacturing Development teams throughout the product development and execution lifecycle.
The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of sheet metal design, fabrication, assemblies, manufacturing processes, and engineering documentation, along with hands-on proficiency in SolidWorks or a similar 3D CAD platform.
Key Responsibilities1. Product & Solution Design
- Develop product and system designs based on customer, product, and business requirements.
- Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, sheet metal parts, and manufacturing drawings.
- Design sheet metal products, furniture systems, modular systems, and industrial assemblies.
- Translate functional and technical requirements into practical engineering solutions.
- Develop design concepts and engineering solutions considering functionality, cost, manufacturability, and scalability.
- Modify and optimize existing products based on customer requirements, production feedback, and business needs.
1. Engineering Documentation
- Prepare accurate and detailed manufacturing drawings, BOMs, part drawings, assembly drawings, and specifications.
- Define appropriate dimensions, tolerances, materials, finishes, and manufacturing requirements.
- Maintain proper drawing standards, revision control, and engineering documentation.
- Ensure consistency and accuracy of product documentation across projects.
- Support development and standardization of engineering templates, drawing practices, and product documentation.
1. New Product Development & Engineering Improvement
- Support new product development from concept through prototype and production.
- Develop prototypes and incorporate feedback from testing, manufacturing, and customers.
- Participate in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
activities.
- Identify opportunities for value engineering, cost reduction, simplification, and product improvement.
- Support modularization and standardization of products and components.
- Develop reusable components, standard parts, and design libraries wherever applicable.
1. Manufacturing & Process Alignment
- Ensure all designs are practical, manufacturable, and suitable for production.
- Consider manufacturing processes such as:
- Sheet metal cutting
- Laser cutting
- CNC bending
- Punching
- Welding
- Fabrication
- Assembly
- Powder coating and finishing
- Consider material selection, bend allowances, tolerances, tooling limitations, welding requirements, assembly sequence, and finishing requirements during design.
- Work with manufacturing teams to resolve design and production issues.
- Support production during prototype development, first-off production, and execution stages.
- Incorporate shop-floor feedback into product and design improvements.
1. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with Product, Solutions, Manufacturing, Operations, and Manufacturing Development teams.
- Understand and clarify technical and functional requirements.
- Participate in design reviews and technical discussions.
- Resolve design-related issues during development and production.
- Communicate design intent and technical requirements clearly to internal stakeholders.
- Support execution teams in achieving design, quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
1. Design Standards & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to the development and implementation of product design standards.
- Standardize components, assemblies, and design methodologies across product programs.
- Identify recurring design and manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain a structured approach to engineering data, drawings, BOMs, and revisions.
- Continuously improve design practices, engineering processes, and product quality.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in product design, sheet metal design, industrial product engineering, or a similar role.
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software.
- Good understanding of sheet metal design and fabrication processes.
- Ability to create detailed manufacturing drawings and assemblies.
- Good understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T;, tolerances, materials, and manufacturing specifications.
- Experience in preparing and managing BOMs and engineering documentation.
- Understanding of DFM/DFA principles.
- Ability to interpret customer and functional requirements and convert them into practical designs.
- Good understanding of fabrication, assembly, and finishing processes.

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
