What Swym is, what Beacon is, and why this role exists

Every day, millions of shoppers save products they want but are not ready to buy. Most brands never know it happened. Swym fixes that. We capture what shoppers want at the earliest and most specific point in their journey, and we make that signal usable across every channel a brand has, until the purchase completes. 48,000 brands use Swym today.

Beacon is the intelligence layer of the Swym platform. It doesn't just display data; it analyzes, benchmarks, and orchestrates merchant actions to drive revenue. We are moving Beacon from an "incoming request" model to a unified, autonomous system capable of accessing, synthesizing, and acting on every piece of merchant data across our stack.

Building the feature is rarely the hard part anymore. With AI doing first-draft engineering, most features move from idea to working prototype fast. What doesn't move on its own is adoption: whether a merchant who has access to a capability actually turns it on, uses it, and keeps using it.

That gap, between shipped and adopted, is what this role exists to close. You will engineer this transition by building the architecture that makes our data moat usable, building agentic workflows that replace manual processes, and defining the logic that turns raw intent into merchant outcomes.

How we work

We are an engineering-first team that runs on AI, GitHub, and rapid shipping.

- Systems over Scripts: We aren't looking for temporary patches. We are re-architecting Beacon into a unified system.

- Agentic-First: We build with the assumption that agents will handle the heavy lifting. You should be the person defining the agent-to-agent interactions, not just the individual components.

- Direct Access: You will work directly with our data models, our infrastructure, and the core merchant feedback loop.

What you will own In your first 90 days: Architectural Assessment & System Stability.

You will audit the current Beacon architecture, identify the bottlenecks in our data flow, and implement the initial stages of the unified data-access layer. You will be expected to ship code—optimizing existing queries, instrumenting our UCG (Usage Consumption Group) flow, and ensuring our core systems (Redis, PostgreSQL) are performing ahead of peak traffic periods.

At six months: Intelligent Orchestration.

You will have built and deployed at least one end-to-end agentic workflow that autonomously solves a merchant pain point—be it journey mapping, vertical benchmarking, or automated campaign optimization. Your work will be measured by its impact on system performance and the clarity of insights surfaced to merchants.

At twelve months: Structural Impact.

Beacon will be the "source of truth" for merchant insights. You will have moved beyond building features to defining the system's evolution. You will be the architect responsible for how our intelligence layer scales, ensuring we are not just reacting to merchant requests but proactively surfacing value.

Who you are

- Reliability & Ownership: You will serve as the primary owner for the reliability of the agentic workflows you deploy, including on-call responsibilities during peak traffic events like Black Friday Cyber Monday (BFCM).

- Engineering First: You are a developer at heart. You understand system design, you know how to optimize a database query, and you care about the long-term maintainability of your code. You don't just "hand off" specs; you build the prototype, iterate, and ship it.

- 4-6+ Years of Experience: You have spent at least 4-6 years in the trenches of backend engineering and data systems. Pure PMs need not apply; we need someone who can open a PR and debug the issue.

- Data Fluent: You understand how to structure and query complex data. Experience with our stack (Azure, Redis, PostgreSQL, SQL, Python/Node) is a major plus.

- Bias for Action: You identify why a system is crashing, propose the fix, and execute it before a ticket even hits the backlog.

- AI-Native: You use AI to multiply your output. You are comfortable building with ADK (Agent Development Kit), Forge, and interacting with LLMs as core system components, not just wrappers.

- Customer-Sensing Instinct: You possess a deep ability to translate requirements from internal teams (e.g., Growth, CX) into architectural decisions. You treat internal consumers as true customers and design interfaces/workflows to solve their problems, ensuring that "technical elegance" aligns with actual downstream needs.

Why this role is different Most product roles at this level force you into a box of "strategy" or "coordination." This role forces you into the system architecture.

You will own the intelligence layer that powers Swym’s growth. You will get deep exposure to our AI agent architecture, real merchant data at scale, and the chance to design a system that will be critical for our performance during Black Friday Cyber Monday (BFCM).

Compensation:

Competitive cash and meaningful equity. Stock options for everyone.

How to apply:

Please apply directly through this LinkedIn job post.

Note:

If shortlisted, the assessment will include a 90-minute technical/architectural build assignment. We evaluate technical judgment, systems thinking, and your ability to translate an internal stakeholder's stated need into a resilient architectural decision.
