About the role

We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join our team and take ownership of different parts of our stack. You will be working alongside our CTO on all aspects of current and future product development. You will work directly with the founding team and leverage your experience to inform decisions from product, technology, and strategy. You will help us build the foundation of this company: its culture, its processes, and its practices. There are a ton of interesting problems to solve, so come hungry. Responsibilities

- You write, review and ship code in production. Your employer or client’s success depends on the software you build.
- Use Generative AI tools on a daily basis to enhance the quality and efficacy of your software and non-software deliverables.
- You are a self-starter and enjoy working with minimal supervision.
- Evaluate and make technical architecture decisions with a long-term view, optimizing for speed, quality, and safety.
- Take pride in the product you create and the code that you write.
- Your team can rely on you to get them out of a sticky situation in production.
- You can work well on a team of sales executives, designers and engineers in an in-person environment.




- Be passionate about the enterprise software development lifecycle and feel strongly about improving it.

Qualifications

Our hiring process is designed for you to demonstrate a generalist set of capabilities, with a specialization in Python backend development. In addition, experience with some of the following:

- 15+ years of professional software engineering experience, with deep expertise in Python required
- Proven production expertise with FastAPI and/or Django, including Django REST Framework, ORM, middleware, and REST API design.
- Direct experience with FastAPI and/or Django, including Django REST Framework, ORM, middleware, and REST API design.
- Strong command of modern software engineering practices and CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins, GitLab, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes deployment and container logs in a production environment.
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, REST API design, Git, and cloud platforms such as Google Cloud, AWS, Azure, or Vercel.

- Track record of building enterprise-scale applications with high availability and 99%+ SLAs.
- Strong understanding of microservices architecture and asynchronous, Python-native service design, including FastAPI microservices and async I/O pattern preferred
- Proficiency with Pydantic for data validation and serialization.

- Familiarity with AI platforms such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face, Vertex AI, Amazon Bedrock, or SageMaker.
- Particularly valuable: Extensive GCP expertise, deep knowledge of Python frameworks, and proficiency in additional languages or frameworks such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, or Node.js/Express.js for full-stack collaboration.
