Job Title- Pricing Manager Imports (Air & Sea)

Department- Pricing / Commercial

Location- Andheri East, Mumbai

Reporting To- General Manager/Commercial Director Sales & Pricing

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Pricing Manager Imports (Air & Sea) to manage and develop the companys import pricing function across air and ocean freight. The role will be responsible for sourcing competitive rates from airlines, shipping lines, co-loaders, overseas agents, and other logistics partners, while ensuring commercially viable and customer-focused quotations.

The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of import trade lanes, freight markets, carrier contracts, local charges, and pricing strategies, along with the ability to work closely with sales, operations, overseas agents, and customers.

Key Responsibilities

1. Import Pricing & Rate Management

Manage end-to-end pricing for Air & Sea import shipments Obtain and negotiate competitive rates with airlines, shipping lines, NVOCCs, co-loaders, overseas agents, and other service providers.

Develop and maintain competitive import rate structures for key global trade lanes.

Evaluate freight, origin/destination charges, handling charges, customs-related costs, and other applicable surcharges.

Ensure accurate calculation of landed logistics costs and selling rates.

Maintain updated rate sheets, tariffs, contracts, and pricing databases.

1. Quotation Management

Handle pricing requests/RFQs received from the sales and business development teams. Provide timely and accurate quotations while ensuring healthy margins.

Analyse customer requirements and recommend the most commercially suitable routing and service option.

Coordinate with operations and overseas partners to validate service feasibility before quoting.

Support large RFQs,



tenders, annual contracts, and key customer pricing exercises.

1. Carrier & Vendor Negotiation

Establish and maintain solid commercial relationships with airlines, shipping lines, NVOCCs, consolidators, and overseas agents. Negotiate preferential rates, credit terms, free days, and other commercial benefits.

Monitor market movements and identify opportunities for securing better buying rates.

Regularly review vendor performance, rate competitiveness, and service reliability.

1. Market Intelligence

Monitor changes in Air & Ocean freight rates, capacity, demand, fuel surcharges, peak season surcharges, congestion, and other market developments. Track competitor pricing and market trends.

Identify profitable trade lanes and emerging business opportunities.

Provide regular market updates to management and sales teams.

1. Internal Coordination

Work closely with Sales, Operations, Customer Service, Finance, and Overseas Agents to ensure smooth execution of quoted business. Support sales teams with pricing strategies and commercial inputs during customer negotiations.

Ensure proper handover of approved rates to the operations team.

Resolve pricing-related discrepancies and commercial issues.

1. Profitability & Commercial Control

Ensure all quotations meet defined company margin requirements. Review shipment profitability and identify cases of rate leakage or margin erosion.





Analyse buying versus selling rates and recommend corrective actions.

Support management in developing pricing strategies for key accounts and strategic customers.

Key Skills & Competencies

Strong knowledge of Air & Sea Import Freight Forwarding.

Excellent understanding of international trade lanes and freight markets.

Strong negotiation and commercial skills.

Good analytical and numerical abilities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work under pressure and meet tight quotation deadlines.

Strong proficiency in MS Excel and pricing/rate management systems.

Ability to manage multiple RFQs and priorities simultaneously.

Strong relationship-management skills with airlines, shipping lines, agents, and vendors.

Commercially astute with a strong focus on profitability.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Pricing turnaround time for RFQs.

Quote-to-booking conversion ratio.

Gross profit/margin achieved.

Competitiveness of buying rates.

Number and value of new business won through pricing support.

Vendor/carrier rate competitiveness.

Accuracy of quotations.

Reduction in pricing errors and revenue leakage.

Customer and internal stakeholder satisfaction.

Preferred candidate profile:

510 years experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or international shipping. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in international freight forwarding, with strong exposure to import pricing for Air and Ocean shipments.

Graduate/Postgraduate degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Business, Commerce, or a related field

Relevant certification in freight forwarding/logistics will be an advantage.

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in international freight forwarding, with strong exposure to import pricing for Air and Ocean shipments.
