Role & responsibilities-
Payroll Management
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a large number of on-roll employees across multiple clients/sites
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing on a monthly/weekly cycle
- Handle payroll inputs including attendance, overtime, incentives, deductions, arrears, and reimbursements
- Ensure statutory deductions (PF, ESI, PT, LWF, TDS, etc.) are correctly calculated
- Manage payroll finalization, payslip generation, and bank file uploads
- Handle full & final settlements, gratuity, bonus, and leave encashment
Statutory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all labour laws and statutory regulations, including:
- Provident Fund (PF)
- Employee State Insurance (ESI)
- Qualified Tax (PT)
- Labour Welfare Fund (LWF)
- Bonus Act, Gratuity Act, CLRA, Minimum Wages, Shops & Establishment Act
- Timely filing of returns, challans, and statutory reports
- Coordinate and handle labour inspections, audits, and notices
- Maintain compliance documentation and statutory registers
Client & Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate with internal teams (HR, Operations, Finance) and external stakeholders
- Address payroll and compliance queries from employees and clients
- Support client audits and compliance reporting requirements
Team Management
- Lead, train, and supervise the payroll & compliance team
- Allocate work, monitor performance, and ensure SLA adherence
- Process improvements to handle high-volume payroll efficiently
- Ensure backup planning and knowledge sharing within the team
Systems & Process Management
- Work on payroll software and HRMS systems
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity
- Identify opportunities for automation and process optimization
- Prepare MIS reports, dashboards, and management reports
Preferred candidate profile-
Education
- Graduate/Postgraduate (HR, Commerce, Finance preferred)
Experience
- 510 years of experience in payroll & compliance
- Mandatory experience in staffing/manpower/recruitment companies
- Proven experience handling large headcount payroll (1,000+ employees)
- Strong exposure to statutory compliance and labour laws
- Prior team handling experience is mandatory
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of Indian labour laws & statutory compliance
- Hands-on payroll processing experience
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proficiency in Excel and payroll systems
Preferred Skills
- Experience with multi-location payroll
- Exposure to audits and labour department interactions.
