Role Description The Owner at Citizens Alliance (CAPL) is a full-time, on-site role based in Kolkata, responsible for overall strategic direction, operational oversight, and organizational growth. This role involves setting long-term goals, designing programs that enhance last-mile delivery, and guiding community engagement initiatives in governance.

The Owner will oversee budgeting, resource allocation, and partnership development with public agencies, NGOs, and local stakeholders. Day-to-day tasks include supervising core teams, reviewing project progress, making data-informed decisions, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and relevant regulations. The role also requires representing CAPL in external forums, nurturing a positive and inclusive work culture, and continuously identifying recent opportunities for impact and collaboration.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated experience in organizational leadership, strategic planning, and governance or public policy.
- Experience in community engagement, social impact projects, or development sector work,



preferably in urban or semi-urban contexts.
- Strong skills in stakeholder management, partnership building, and negotiation with public and private entities.
- Competence in project management, budgeting, and resource planning for multi-stakeholder initiatives.
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities, with comfort using data and field insights.
- Clear and confident communication skills, including public speaking and report writing in English; knowledge of local languages in Kolkata is an advantage.
- Ability to work on-site, lead diverse teams, and maintain an inclusive, gender-neutral, and non-discriminatory workplace.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Administration, Social Sciences, Management, or a related field; significant relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
- Prior experience in founding, owning, or directing a social enterprise, NGO, or civic initiative is highly beneficial.
